Melton Model Show - 25/26 September

Hi guys,

We have been invited back to race at the Melton Model Show again this year, which takes place on the weekend of 25/26 September. Last year this was a great event, featuring model aeroplanes, helicopters, slot car racing and of course ourselves racing model cars for 2 days.

It all takes place on the field adjacent to Tesco in Melton Mowbray, so lunch is easy to find! The racing will be free and informal for all classes of off-road RC cars, all scales and either electric or IC powered. Last year we had 1/10 electric buggies, 1/10 electric trucks, 1/8 IC trucks and even a couple of 1/5 petrol buggies.

We have some varied events in mind for this year, ranging from the usual 5-minute racing format to some other more creative ideas prompted by some informal discussions in the pub last Friday, based on the theme of an "RC Olympics":
  • RC high-jump
  • RC long-jump
  • RC triple-jump
  • RC hurdles
  • RC team relay
  • RC team pursuit
  • RC bungee-running (OK, it's not an Olympic sport but it should be fun)
  • RC egg & spoon race (again, not an Olympic sport, but it jolly well should be!)
  • We decided that the RC javelin was probably too dangerous for a public event.
So, if you're free then put the date in your diary for the weekend of 25/26 September.

Just change the weekend that you move then you plonker.

I have 'borrowed' some ramps that are even bigger than the mega ramp of death for this event. They are so big I have also had to borrow a mercedes long wheelbase hightop sprinter to fit them in, and I am not joking.

Don't go back to School mate you'll end up having to sell your car to fund nights out and new pants:thumbsup:.

The Doctor 18-09-2010 09:21 PM

So, how are we getting all the kit there next weekend?

Lloyd, are you still bringing the mega-mega-ramps-of-death with you?

The outdoor track markings are in the container at the rugby club, so we'll need to load them up ideally on the Friday night before I guess, then collect the ramps from the shed at the school.

Are we still using Wes' van or not now he's gone & got married today?

wes j. 19-09-2010 05:53 PM

I've got the van for us to use. Only problem is i'm going to Hastings this week but i'm hoping to be racing Friday. If i can't make it i'll try and sort something with Pat so he can use the Van.

The Doctor 19-09-2010 10:15 PM

Nice one Wes.
