Why is my car not that quick with a 6.5t motor in it LRP speedo
I've noticed most of the cars seem significantly quicker down the straight than me. I changed from a 7.5 to a 6.5 but didn't seem to make much difference. I've a b6.2 and its geared as per the manual.
So I'm thinking it could be the speedo settings. I've a few LRP flow works team speedos. So I've checked the settings and weirdly with the instructions dont seem to marry up with the flashes on the speedo. I've checked the firmware and it's set to buggy and the same flashes appear on the other one I have. So maybe I'm doing something wrong any ideas? |
Can depend on a lot of things - motor for one. I've a Speed Passion 3.0 7.5 that is dog slow compared to a Trackstar 8.5.
Also are they running tons of boost and turbo compared to you? |

Can you get hold of the USB bridge to check it with the LRP PC software?
That's the one thing that put me off a FlowX was the lack of a prog card to sanity check what you think you had set. :) |
If the lights don't align with the manual, you probably have a different version of the firmware. They are all downloadable online so just have check through and see which version alligns with the light of your esc
|
Yeah I've got the usb bridge and have checked the off road firmware is installed. It doesn't show what's set that I can see only used to upload firmware.
I can see no other manuals online so confusing why the lights are different. I've uploaded the same firmware to another speedo and it's the same |
Have you compared your spur and pinion gear choice to others?

If so it's too low. I found the manual suggestions too short. Personally I run a 25t pinion on 7.5t HW g3 with boost and turbo... |

Is it also worth putting all your throttle and brake settings on your handset back to 100% or whatever default is and re-calibrating your radio and ESC?

out of interest how would older batteries affect the top end speed?

They wouldn't really, unless they are that far gone they can't supply a decent stable current and keep a stable voltage any more.
Mine are all 3 years old or more, running a 5.5 in 4WD and there's no-one else at my club can get away from me down the straight. Just the bits where I crash ;) It's only the rich kids and those who are fighting for F grades that replace them every week/month/year. I'll run mine until the car doesn't move or they are swollen. Sure, I look after them by putting them in storage and checking the IR of them, but any that are higher than the others just get used for practice and heats - save my best ones for the finals. :) Agree with everyone else, a 20T pinion is way undergeared. I use a 23 in my 2WD as does most the others at my club - and that's outdoor astro. Indoor carpet you can ramp it up a bit. You'll hardly notice any loss of bottom end as modern motors are just that good. Just turn the punch up a bit if you do. It deffo sounds like the ESC settings need double checking though pal. |

Pinion will be nice and cheap  |
I’ve always worked on the basis that the suggested gearing on US brand buggies assumes high profile dirt tyres, so you can probably add a couple of pinions to the recommended at least.
|
Also ..... sometimes when watching other cars, they look extremely fast, and mine feels slow. But when you ask a spectator, they'll comment that mine is just as fast. It's a perception thing, when driving your own car feels slow ... almost like slow motion at times.
