It has been brought to our attention that the control tyre for R1 in BADMCC, the Proline Calibre is not available.
However we have been in touch with the distributor for Ireland and UK and they are in fact available, and in stock.

As they are a dirt tyre that wouldnt have a huge demand in this part of the world, you may have difficulty finding online shops that show them in stock. Even the likes of Holeshots that are used at RHR arent in stock in a lot of places, and if they are the stock seems to be fairly low.

We would advise you to get in touch with your LHS and order them well in advance of round 1.

I found them in stock at Rennicks Modeltune in Portadown. Very reasonably priced too.

Meath77 16-03-2015 08:34 PM

MSD models have them too. Top service off the lads running that site too ;)

Maybe for next year Proline Holeshot tyres could be considered as they are more commercialy available? Just a thought.

The Doktor 23-03-2015 01:16 PM

Just to follow up, I ordered my tyres from cml (links above), last wednesday and had them today, so zero issue getting Calibers

Thanks
Lee

I dont think changing the tire would make things any easier. The same thing happens every year when people dont look to buy early enough and its a last minute rush to find them. The tires are available and can be ordered locally or online guys just need to organise them self properly.

Fail to prepare, prepare to fail.... I agree with you Colin.

One aspect which could be considered for next year is that the RCCAOI has 9 drivers going to the Euros this year. All of whom will come home with partly worn and/or unused holeshots. Allowing holeshots as an option, not as a substitute, could prove beneficial to a lot of low budget racers as second hand tyres would be available.

Obviously not relevant for this year - but perhaps something to consider for next year.

Click 27-03-2015 05:07 PM

My understanding of why Proline Calibre tyres are used is that a top Irish racer (not from the South) did some testing at the track and the Proline Calibre's came out on top, not perfect but better than anything else he used. I don't know if he had Holeshots to try while testing.

My suggestion is that somebody should test Proline Holeshots back to back with Proline Calibre's and if the Holeshots work out as the better tyre or an equal alternative a change can be put forward at the next RCCAOI AGM.

But I agree with Will, too late to do anything for this championship, should have been raised at the last AGM!

Mugenextreme 27-03-2015 07:51 PM

There has been a lot of development on the track at Badmcc over the past few months with big changes around the areas where the 1.10 track runs. There is now less dirt as the variety of changes have introduced new surfaces. Probably about that time to look at a different tire. If I am not mistaken we did have William running holeshots during some events in the past without any issues. I am sure we can try something on the day of the national as a test to compare times.

h0m3sy 27-03-2015 08:36 PM

We have a choice of tyres for every other round so would make sense to trial( if possible) another tyre for the BADMCC round. As I posted earlier, obviously couldn't race them this year but if the results of the test were favourable then for next year it should happen but as Click says, would have to be voted on at the AGM.

Thanks Ivan :)
We really did get lucky with the weather this year, it was funny, as the day before each outdoor round it lashed rain, and i was sitting there thinking "hmmm this is gonna be canceled". But luckily the sun sorta came out and we got some good racing in :)
