I was hoping to attend this on Sunday. Do I actually require a BRCA license? I've only just got back into the hobby but cant say I fancy paying out £18 or so for a few months, if I'll have to pay another £18 for next year!

I think most clubs will allow you to do 3 events before you need to have a licence but can someone from Torbay confirm this

Thats what I was hoping. I ran at Tiverton a few weeks back no problems. Soon as the BRCA release next years details I'll be buying a license thats for sure.

has rachel hi jacked your account so you dont go to mess fest ?

im going to try make it all dependant on work as always not ran my buggy since yatton and its always good to break bits of it at diferent clubs

blue_pinky 24-10-2013 04:37 PM

The 3 free tries only applies to new new members...who have never been BRCA members in the past at any point, and have never raced at affiliated clubs before.

However...and this would need checking...I believe there is a point at which you can join towards the end of the year and new memberships will carry forward for the following 12 months. Not sure on that though...maybe someone else can confirm? Might be from November onwards or something? Sorry for the patchy memory on that!!

lardy37 24-10-2013 07:30 PM

John will normally allow you to race twice at the club ( for people who haven't raced at our club ) before signing up for brca membership

Awesome, hopefully I'll be allowed to race then. Soon as the BRCA allow 2014 membership, I'm buying. Looks like it was in Nov last year, so hopefully not long.

Also a great 1-2-3 from Team Southwest Rc

Well done lads.

Heard a few complaints about the track that's fine but what would people like to see next time.

I think we should limit it to 8 cars per heat and a minimum of 6 cars per class that way sorting the heat listings is easier and marshalling is always covered. Still keep 10 car finals though.

I also asked lee if we could have a table next time so once you have raced your car goes on the table and your straight out to marshal lots of time was wasted waiting for marshals to get back from the pits.

DynaMight 28-10-2013 08:25 PM

I had a good time. Managed to come 2nd place in the E finals, fairly happy with that  Probably wont give up my day job to become a professional RC racer quite yet :woot:

I dont think it was so much the numbers, but just a few key areas that caused pileups.

Paul Field 28-10-2013 11:15 PM

Thanks to everyone at TRAC I had a good days racing.

In response to your request Dan.

I actually enjoyed the jump section in the end. It was easy to get it wrong though hence the amount of pile ups.
I would split it up a bit and have a hairpin after the table top of hardboard to stop the grip roll and also try and make you hit the down ramp which would be easier if it was longer.
I would have a hairpin after the sweeper at the end of the straight and have a bit more infield but avoiding having a chicane, or have a chicane running away from the rostrum. Which would help avoid crashes with the track marking rope that tends to drag cars in when touched.
Once again not criticisms just ideas.
Cheers
Paul

Firstly thanks for a fun event on a big indoor track, its really good to have a big indoor track to race on once a month through the cold wet winter.

Dan, about the track, I thought it was fun; the jump section in front of the rostrum was a little difficult to get used but the addition of the carpet on the jump onto the table top helped, personally I enjoyed this section but it did cause some accidents, I guess this is to be expected on an indoor track! I also liked the fast flowing nature, something that we don’t often race on these days. The cone thingy was fun but a little difficult to see so felt like an obstacle rather than a feature and getting around cleanly was better than trying to take it fast, maybe if the driving surface was facing the driver somehow? This would be difficult as it’s a 180 degree corner, maybe if it was closer to the rostrum so the viewing angle was steeper? One thing that was a huge improvement over last year was not using the kicker onto the table top, the kicker is very severe and launches the car very high and not much fun let alone hard on the cars as more often than not the down ramp is not touched! So, in short, I enjoyed it and the main comment is not to use the kicker.

Only thoughts, but you did ask :)

Cheers

Please excuse my crude drawing! I loved this track but had trouble with the jumps in front of the rostrum too. I found It hard to hit ramp 1 with the correct speed, too fast mostly!! :woot: Too much speed meant overshooting ramp 2 and landing on the up part of ramp 3 killing all my speed causing me to nose dive into the up part of ramp 4.

Do you think moving ramp 2 and 3 further apart from each outer would help? Maybe give you more chance to correct your speed?

Hi there's 3 of us coming down from Bath to give this a go for the first time. One of us will need a handout transponder, do we need to pre-book this or do you have plenty?

Thanks Michael

Hello, going to come to next meeting on 26th what 2wd front tyres are everyone using?

Paul Field 30-12-2013 10:31 AM

Most drivers are using
Schumacher Cut Stagger - Low Profile - Yellow. Part number U6770

steve white 30-12-2013 11:08 AM

Thanks for the reply Paul going to use my cougar kf for the first time saw you've got one how does it go in the acorn centre? Also do you use inserts with the cut staggers?

Mowen208fly 30-12-2013 11:52 AM

Hi Steve
As Martin said,we don't run front inserts.
The KF handles really well at the Acorn Centre.
Paul Penny took TQ last time with a KF and I qualified 2nd.

If you need any setup advice come and see me on the day.

Cheers

Paul

steve white 30-12-2013 03:34 PM

Thanks Paul if I need any advice I'll come over. Steve
