DB2 Sapphire Mounting

Hi all.

Just a quickie to show how we are mounting the Sapphire bodyshell.
The carbon parts will be sent out to all owners of he DB2 and now is included in the kits.
You now do not require the 2mm washer between the top deck and the gearbox. The carbon part acts as the washer too! - :)
To those that the shell has been sent to your bodyshops for painting, please remind your relevant painters so they don't loose the part.

but iam I right in saying you will still need shockers and then the rear end off the zx5 sp2?

do you get the prop as part of the kit and the slipper?

I must say they look really good but I want to mamke sure I have all the parts before I order

thanks

I would say the best way around putting a kit together would be to buy a 2nd hand zx5 fs2 sp as you are correct in saying you will need the whole rear end including the slipper ass. The shortened prop is in the DB2 kit

Then put together a RB6 front end from parts...

The only thing I can think of that you then wouldn't have are the newer style shock tops but you ca obviously buy them if you like or in due course.

Maybe Tony will have a complete parts list that may help so maybe worth contacting him

Thanks pal i have a rb6 now are they really any better than that or indeed the db1 as I have been looking at maybe even buying a db1 to save me going to shortys

Db2 parts

From tony you get:- chassis , topdeck, lipo holder, lipobrass weight, front brace and posts, shortened prop shaft, motor mount and the body shell everything else is donated from the other 2cars mate , goes together nicely and performance is really good , hope this helps

Can't really say if they are any better or worse as it's always going to be personal preference. I was using shortys in my RB6 before the DB2 was released so you wouldn't need to buy them just for your DB2.

I'm not sure I would go the DB1 route as things have obviously been developed and learnt hence why the DB2 was released

Somebody could share a base set up for dry medium/high bite astro on a technical track?

TIA!

RudeTony 24-01-2014 04:26 PM

inside on both front and rear wishones
2 hole from outside on front tower and the 2nd on the rear rear tower.
Small bores use 3b all round with 600 front and 300 rear
Silver front spring and yellow rear.
Big bores use 650 front with 350 rear with orange front and gold rear springs
Long wheel base.
Inside rear link long with 2mm washer- outside rear link long with 2mm washer and shorter if you want more rotation in the corner (tight turns)
Centre hole front bulkhead with 3mm washer. 2 mm if you want it to bite a little more going in the turn.
18mm all round off the chassis

Good luck and let us know whats what and how it feels :)

bobbin 24-01-2014 06:25 PM

Front kickup as well please.

RudeTony 25-01-2014 12:25 PM

I run 30 deg front kick up.
Dave like 25 I believe.
Kev used to run 30.

In Big Bores
I run 6 hole front pistons with 5 hole rear.
Dave is on 5 all round.

I have been testing the new Kyosho 2 hole and I am liking them more and more though

JustARcFan 25-01-2014 01:45 PM

This is all very good info

Maybe somebody could insert it in a set up sheet and put on Petit Rc?

like this it would be much easier to find if somebody is looking for a set up.
At this point there is only 1 set up from Chris so not much support at this point for such an expensive car.

gixxer 25-01-2014 08:59 PM

I've got a db2 and and basicly run the db1 setup on it and it's Awsome ! I keep thinking ill change something but end up not bothering cos it goes so well

Going to run the car next week, what pinion should I start with for a 7.5 on fairly large outdoor track (Herts) also what springs have people tried and what have you settled with, sorry not being lazy just haven't got the time to test before first regional and want half an idea before I get there.

RudeTony 10-04-2014 09:32 AM

Put a 25/26 pinion on it - I have finally managed to sort out a set and will post on my website very soon - so sorry for such a delay

Any full or shorty servo fits the car - my personal preference is Orion Vortex VDS2-HV 2607 High-Torque Servo - full spec on my website :)

DB2 starting set up on my site too - remember to fine tune to taste afterwards - like salt and pepper - LOL :)
