Shock/Diff oils

Ok chaps,

Think this has been asked but please excuse me

I normally run CoreRC Oils in all my cars, Schumacher, AE, Tamiya in on road and off road

Now I don't think I've had an issue but I get many many comments when I get my oil's out saying why are you running that crap

So what are peoples thoughts
Is there a real noticeable difference in the oils, Core - AE - Xray etc
Or is it just racers promoting what they run as the best ??

Cheers for your thoughts

Silicon oil is silicon oil... to a point. Not one of the off the shelf companies manufactures their own (to my knowledge), they will buy it in from oil companies.

The only thing which can potentially make one better than the other is it's rated weight vs. the measured weight - if your bottle of say, 500cst is actually measuring out at 580cst on one brand, whereas it may measure 495 on another.

All said and done, if it works for you then there's no reason to change. :)

I've always said the same thing - pick a brand and stick to it.

You can't compare across brands, as they will vary. They probably shouldn't, but they do.

I suspect every brand has the odd bottle that goes out with the wrong label on it, so I think you're susceptible to that with everything in my view.

I used Schumacher and Core oil when I drove for them with no obvious concerns. I now use AE oil as I drive for them, again no obvious concerns.
