After advice , what paint people are using ?

Paints
Wow there's loads to choose from a lot are even made in same factory under different brands ,
Faskolor Wicked Autoair Createx Rc identity Are all great paints and I use them on every thing I paint (all water based)👍👍 |
Cheers , I've got some createx to try . Wondering how others seal it off when finished .
|
Halfords or Carplan clear lacquer. Fine coats. Perfect
Ps, I use createx and fascolor water based paints, thinned to a consistency similar to milk |
What do you use to thin it down ?
|
I now use autoair reducer, but water works pretty much the same
|
I've been using water as a reducer since running out of 4030 and it works just as well!
|
Cheers for info , had a go but made a bit of a mess .
Understand it a bit more now though . |
Get an old coke bottle and cut in half lengthways. Practice putting even fine layers on and try different pressures on compressor. Too much pressure or too close and you will get streaks.
As a rule of thumb always try and work at lower pressures if you can as it gives you more precision and neatness. Higher pressure gives better coverage, but needs to be applied from further away to avoid the streaks / paint runs. Once you suss the pressure and the paint consistency you will be away  |
It says the nozzle is 0.35 mm , what sort of pressure do you reckon to aim at . Or is it as you say play around to find out .

Find something to test and play around on and youll soon see the effects and difference Pressure can make! Generally for detail work, 10-15psi, and for larger area's / backing 35-50psi but both will be dependant on how you have the paint thinned down |

Where's the best place to buy createx?
|
Ive been using Faskolor un thinned and not had a problem at all. You can get it from pretty much any model shop too the last I got was from MB but I now know my LHS sell it so I'll be getting it from there.
This is my first proper she'll I painted for the iconic revival http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...sfoa4e7vl.jpeg http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/...psguhurcyw.png |

Sm designs recommended Auto Air Colors or Wicked Colors for body shells , is there a particular one to have .

I have used Wicked Colours before but dont see much difference, they all roll out of the same factory with subtle differences. I mainly stick to Createx as is always readily available and i am more familiar with it. |
Sorry to hijack. But i have all the gear at work compressor etc and fancy trying to paint my own shells instead of rattle cans.
Is there any paints that are ready to use out the bottle? |

They are all ready to use out of the Bottle, Createx, faskolor, wicked, autoair ect, but as always for most applications, you will get better results with a little thinning. I use normal water to thin createx. |
