Rc10b3 vintage racer restoration (and a b2 maybe...)

Got this box of goodies from a mate that couldn't be bothered with vintage racing anymore:

There is a decent B3 in there, that has seen quite a bit of action, it will be getting restored to almost shelfer level, but is to be used for vintage racing, so a few updates/upgrades will find their way on.

And so it begins...

First task to sort all this:http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psgrserrui.jpg
There is a lot of stuff, more than enough to build 2 B3s, anybody want one? Lol
5 chassis, 4 sets of towers, wishbones , 3 gear boxes, 4 sets of shocks and the he list goes on. Should be able to easily build a racer and a shelfer out of it...

There is also this:

To be probably used for some of the updates (slipper, v2 shocks etc). More on that later...

Today's task was to sort through the bits that I've got:http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psxqemgrx9.jpghttp://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e3...ps9f4d4ktf.jpghttp://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psynhh2lqq.jpghttp://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psnaenus0p.jpg
And on first view definitely got enough for 2 :D

First batch of wheels for acetone and cleaning :

Good haul. I should be getting my mitts on one soon, but I dont think I am likely to get much in the way of wheels. Not had a lot of luck finding a solution at the moment.

Runner or shelfer?
I'm under the impression that rc10 worlds (rere) fit.

Ok thanks for the info. I would hope to race it at some point. They do look (Worlds) a similar offset. I have some B4 fronts, but I imagine they might be a bit different offset wise.

The world's front rims fit as do the b4ones, looking at them side by side with the b3 ones, the b3 ones are slightly dished whilst the B4 ones aren't, but the difference is small and suspect a set of carrier/axles from a B4 should sort that. I'll check during the build...

Ok thanks :-)

One set of the Teflon coated ones have alloy caps, so those will probably end up on the shelfer.
The others (silver, v2 & Teflon) got plastic caps.
Atm until I see how many complete cars I can get out of the parts there is, there is no spare set, but we will see what comes out in the wash...

Thanks. Been after one for a while, when he said he was thinking of letting his go, I snapped his arm off...

The B4 has been asset stripped for shocks, bearings, ball studs etc. Looking very sad...http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psrbheuxe7.jpg

charlesk 15-11-2015 08:06 PM

4 sets of shocks ready to rebuild, going to be a busy bee...
Also assembled a new set of cvds for the racer:http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psxxzdbqpp.jpg

charlesk 15-11-2015 08:09 PM

And more importantly 2 rolling chassis converted back to kit form, for cleaning, checking and reassembling :http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psuh2qq5fz.jpg
