Worlds Edition or standard D4

I am thinking of purchasing a d4 and not sure to go for the older stadard model at a bargain price i hope or pay a bit more for the latest version. Any help or advice would be apprciated. Regards Rich. Ohand where would be the best place to buy. Is it worth buying from the usa or will i be stung by a load of custom duty.

It really depends on your budget and ability.

The standard D4 is a really good car , the WCE version was just tweaked to give more performance out of the box.

WCE shocks are much better than the 'old' items easier to build and adjust rebound and also much less prone to air ingress.

WCE slipper is also nice as it is adjustable whilst in the car.

As for buying from the states, you'll roll the import duty dice, and if you need any warranty help, you'll have to go back to where you bought it from. You won't be covered in EU for warranty stuff. Each kit is serial numbered, so we know where it came from.

It's at a bonkers price and you could gradually upgrade the car to a WCE if you needed to.

i went for the original kit at a silly price, and just added the worlds slipper. The original shocks are fine and work ok, but as Adam said the new ones are a bit nicer and easier to build.
I also got the new stronger front and rear shock towers and wishbones to put on the car, and kept the orignal items as spares.
I also had money to get the centre one-way and still work out cheaper than the worlds kit.

The slipper is the only real benefit from the worlds kit, it really makes the car more drivable.

As for getting it from America, the price the original kit is in the Uk now, i doubt you would save much after paying the shipping for an item that size/weight. And if you get stung for duty then you would be out of pocket for sure.

Hi G yes i dont actually race yet my son was racing last sat i was there with him. It was his first race withhis sand viper, steep learning curve for him. I would also like to race and like the d4 kit i have built several cars in the past but all have been tamiya. I do like the look of the d4 and you can pick the origina one up for a good price now. What type of money would you be looking for and would it come wih any spares or electrics as i will be starting with nothing. Thanks Rich.

I have been running my D4 with the wce center slipper and the updated front bumper. I just got my hands on a pair of the wce shocks, but really the car felt great with the "old" shocks. The center slipper was more of an ease of adjustment issue for me.
