Getting started at Mansfield

Just a quick one, wanted to come down this Wed, what do I need regards membership? Do you have a web site giving some details? I'm runing a CAT SX 2, is there plenty of people in this class and at a noice level like me?

Sorry fo all the questions?

john333 07-08-2011 05:23 PM

Hi Muzzie, thanks for enquiring about our club!

There are no special rules regarding coming down, membership is entirely optional. Just come down and we will help you out to get started!

It's in the middle of holiday season at the moment so numbers are a little down but there are at least 2 other Cats that run, along with very good quality short course trucks and a Durango is in the pipeline too.

There is no web site at the moment, but the directions and times etc are on one of the above threads in our section.

I believe you can race 3 times without BRCA membership, but you will need to sort that out to get insurance etc (it's about £15 a year)

See you there! John

My lad and I are staying at my brothers caravan, in Sherwood, are we ok to come down tomorrow night (Wed)? We are running 1/10 2WD. We've also got a couple of 1/18 Losi Mini T buggy conversions that we have never run due to lack of places to run in our neck of the woods - Leicestershire.

Hi mate

You can run what ever you like are Mansfield club.

If there is not enough of one class will put you in with another class.

I run 1/16th 4wd and 1/12 pancar

We are a very relaxed club and anyone is welcome.

There are all levels of drivers from new drivers to national ability.

Hope to see you there wednesday

Cheers

Jason.

As Jason says, any electric class is welcome at Mansfield, the more the merrier!

We have a nice large track, plenty of pitting space and mains leccy (but bring an extension lead if you have one)

Thank for all your help, I had fun even though my CAT let me down. See you next week

Thanks lads. Question, what make of cars were running in heat 2 ? One with the Clio shell for example

JezT 11-08-2011 07:25 PM

Thanx from Max and me also; I loved my first opportunity to run the 1/18 buggy. And good tight practice for Max.
Will race again, next time we are in the area

They were Tamiya "mini's", front wheel drive, excellent little things for learning good lines etc.

You're welcome! come down for a race anytime. I don't know of a time when we wouldn't be running but just check on here couple of days in advance if you're travelling

Drop by?

Hi all,

I was just wondering if I would be able to drop by for about 10 minutes or so just to see what everything is like, it will be my first time at a club and I only got my car about a week ago.

I know I will need BRCA insurance but I want to know i will like things before I go out and get it. I would have normally just got it and then come down and see what happens but at the moment my car is broken (after only a week) and im waiting for the parts to fix it.

Would this quick visit be ok? Any reply would be great, thanks. :)

nites 27-03-2013 04:12 PM

Hi Telmir.
anyone who is interested can come down for a visit, Mansfield's a friendly club and very welcoming with new starters to this hobby of ours. There will always be someone here to help you along and offer advice.
Do be aware though that once you see what goes on and how good some of the racing is that your visit might be longer than 10 minutes so don't get leaving anyone sitting in the car outside waiting :o

Newbies from Derby!

Hi to all. Complete newbies to electric, we are Martyn and son Joel. The only experience we have had is a few times outdoor bashing with a 1/8th nitro (Losi 810). We have now acquired a couple of cheap and cheerful 1/10th electric buggies. Unfortunately Joel will probably not be able to join me as he is with me only every other w/end so when the Sundays stop he will have to wait until they re-start

Anyway, I will pop down on Weds night to check things out if that's OK and for a bit of 'before you start' advice?

Looking forward to meeting you guys

Martyn aka Heansters

dicky14 16-09-2013 07:43 PM

Hi Martyn, it will be nice too see your son and yourself at our humble club, lol. We are a very friendly bunch and any advise you require will be given freely, that's with car setups and such like, looking forward too meeting you:woot:
