Soldering iron recommendations?
Been using the work zone from Aldi. It's ok for soldering motor wires but it's just not getting the job done for ESC terminals. Tried adding flux, feeding solder etc but it's just not melting the solder.
From a quick Google, I think I need something a bit better, particularly the size of the tip and finding leaded solder? https://i.ibb.co/PFzvgFP/IMG-20190916-151909.jpg https://i.ibb.co/BNnJ6f9/IMG-20190916-134724.jpg https://i.ibb.co/9GfzVBy/IMG-20190916-134635.jpg https://i.ibb.co/bPrrL0R/IMG-20190916-134609.jpg |
If that thing will hit 450 deg, then it should really be fine. Lead free solder won't be doing you any favours as it's generally harder to work with than old school leaded stuff.

Tip looks fine, you need decent solder. The best I have used for ESC is Xenon Silver Solder with 62% Tin 36% lead and 2% silver. Flows fantastically and easy to melt.

This is what you need

I've tried loads of solder over the years and found this to be the best I've ever used
https://www.toolstation.com/professi...-solder/p81552 I always use fluxite soldering paste too. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F112730920714 |
