Gear diff

Anyone know if its going to be available soon only seen aug-sept due fir release same time as rtr 22 would like it for f2 finals

Gnarly Old Dog 28-08-2011 07:04 PM

Not saying that it definitely won't come in but with the F2's now less than a week away, I believe you will need to be prepping your car to run the ball diff.

In all honesty, no availability date can be guaranteed until the part is in stock which, when I checked last Friday, it was not.
I wouldn't expect to see the diff until at least the 22RTR is in the shops so I would use that as the initial indicator.

Sorry if this disappoints - but at least you still have 5 days to prep your car accordingly for the event next weekend.

See you there :-)

You could always run the AE gear diff out of an SC10, B4.1 or T4.1. I just set my new car up this way and will be trying it out this Wednesday. I think it will need to be worn in before it starts running good though as the tranny is a bit stiff (its 1 extra tooth), but running it in for a while with a drill helped, I think a race night should loosen it up. I never put any shims in for side to side play in the mid motor trans but some say its needed.

baldric1983 29-08-2011 11:15 PM

why would you put a bigger gear in there just wait for the losi gear diff don't ram something that wasn't made for it in there?

rcjunky 29-08-2011 11:20 PM

because I wanted a gear diff now, and many others have done it...

Fred79 17-09-2011 11:38 PM

Ok first of all you don't have to ram it in there, it's only 1 tooth more than stock :p mine fit's perf. and loving :wub my AE sc10 gear diff. So don't worry and buy one already, you will never go back I tell you...
Yo will also need som 10x12x0.2 shims 4 on each side of the diff for countering play... ;)

rcjunky 18-09-2011 12:40 PM

mine didn't even need shims in the mid motor case and it has no play.

I've seen some of the individual parts available, but not the complete diff (yet).

SC10

I'm fed up with waiting for the losi unit which is now 3 months 'late' so have ordered a SC10 diff. What weight diff oil are you guys running?

Fred79 13-11-2011 09:07 AM

On carpet i would run 2000 to 3000 depending on setyp and track. same on astro.

FoarGeez 15-11-2011 02:42 AM

Hi guys, so if we were to use the SC10 gear diff we should get all this 3 items to run in the 22?

1. SC10 diff gear & cover

Even at amain, those parts have been on backorder for quite a while.

I think the part # people will be looking for is the "gear diff complete" = LOSA2954 - it'll be cheaper than buying individual parts bags also.

anyone try the gear diff on dirt?

Darren Boyle 17-11-2011 01:22 PM

The 22 RTR kits arrived into stock this morning, so we we now expect the gear diffs to be here later this week with the spares delivery......

B4 Sloth 17-11-2011 07:56 PM

Fingers crossed they are here ready for stotfold:thumbsup:

Mau 18-11-2011 10:27 AM

Do this diff mount on mid motor configuration too? Is it ok for carpet or not? I come from 1/8 gas so ball diffs are not so friendly to me.... :(:(
