Hi,

That should be grand for the large main diff balls. You'll need a black grease (http://www.cmldistribution.co.uk/pro...d-black-grease) for the small thrust race. The black grease can also be used on cvds etc.

As for maintenance, clean everything (lighter fluid / electrical cleaner or similar) and assemble as per the manual. To check if it is loose, trap the drive shafts, and try to turn the diff gear. You can put an allen driver in each of the out drives. If you can turn the diff grear with the outdrives trapped then it needs to go tighter, 1/8 turn at a time. Tighten check for slip and tighen again if needed.

You should never run the diff lose in the buggy. If you hear a 'bark' sound under acceleration, that's generally the diff slipping. Diffs are not designed to slip. So if you hear a 'bark' check diff settings.

When all this is done and diff is tight, holding the diff gear you should be able to turn an outdrive and the other will turn in the opposite direction. The outdrive should be smooth to turn.

If it's rough to turn then parts will need replacing, thrust race first then the diff rings / balls.

When you are initially cleaning if the diff rings / thrust rings are badly pitted / worn, then they need to be replaced.
It is also possible to sand the diff rings / thrust rings, and re-use.
Hold the diff ring in one of the outdrives to sand it, if you do sand make sure to keep the ring square to the sanding surface.
