!!!Graft Dodgers!!! (No racing on the 22nd March)

Hi Folks,

Firstly apologies for being late on Sunday.

Sorry to put this post so bluntly but if I'm expected to lock up the Community centre every week when everyone's gone I expect everyone and that means everyone to stay and help unless you have a good excuse not to!!!!

Thanks to the people that did help and I understand that certain people couldn't.

HEAVILY MODERATED

I refuse to lock up after 11:00, get in at 12:00 and get up early to go to work every week!!!!

I was hoping to give the keys to someone else this week to lock up as I won't be there on the 22nd due to racing at Worksop.

Unfortunately everyone had left so there won't be any racing this weekend unless someone comes to collect the computer and keys off me.

##### CAN SOMEONE PLEASE COLLECT THE KEYS FROM DAVID (JARROW) TO ENABLE THE CLUB TO GO AHEAD THIS WEEK. ######

go back to day time racing then people may stay to put track away, just a thought matey, unfortunatly dave thats what happens when your running a club, when we had the warehouse i wasnt getting home sometimes till 12.30pm, most of the time it was 12, i did that for about 4 years

We take a fiver deposit at the start of the night and you only get it back after you help put the track away, it certainly stopped people dissappearing off after the last final.

Good idea... but junior members and their parents should be exempt.

Same at every club... how about me and CG turning up at 5:30 every week at Jarrow to build the track for 2 years, and having to sneak in past the cleaners and Alfie, as he didnt want us in til after 6.

Put your dummy back in, Id rather race more rounds and finish late, but thats just personal preferance. Ive seen you get home later than half eleven on a Sunday after 50p a bottle night @ "The Venue" anyway.. or should that have been 10p a bottle night when Neil was behind the bar.

i agree go back to day racing then my boy can come racing.

Lets not turn this into another contest,
there was a vote, which supported evening racing. We are in a trial period, I believe it is well attended. And I've just been to the Sunderland Echo and advised them to print the article showing evening racing!
I for one wouldnt attend during the day

Also David, Why dont we hold a quick meeting about this the next time seaham is on?? Instead comming on here 2 days after the event?

nobby 17-03-2010 01:27 PM

calm down chris green he's got a point.
i'v done the running a club thing and most racers only care about there racing, and don't won't to know about the running of the club. most won't turn up early to help build the track so do we think they will stay back to clear away?

not many people came forward to help when peter asked, but pack was one of them so don't knock him.

all club members should remember the club is for you to run.
it's not a service to be provided by the few for the many.

cmgreen 17-03-2010 01:53 PM

I didnt mean anything negative, i just meant keep it in house before we go on here.

We have a few exceptions, we dont charge visiting guests who have travelled a long distance (usually 50+ miles) but aside from that we charge everybody a fiver deposit and it certainly helped us stop everybody clearing off.

I know of other clubs here that run similar scemes. we got the idea of another club here. A few weeks ago they didnt charge as a trial to see and 40 or so of the 45 racers just left after the last final leaving the track to be put away by the same guys that put it out that morning. They went back to charging the fiver!

Battle_axe 17-03-2010 03:43 PM

i see this never having been to your club do you think it makes me want to come race?

chrispattinson 17-03-2010 04:36 PM

Honest, it's a friendly club, just the odd few who don't know how to portray that on open public forums.

I've just been portraying our open, friendly demeanor to the local newspaper, and gave them a link to this forum.

As if moderators on here dont have enough to watch out for.

littlened 17-03-2010 04:43 PM

I have to say, I've been meaning to come up and race for months, but sunday is the only day the wife and I get off together, so the daytime race times were a problem for me. However, I've just noticed the evening race times, and it certainly makes it more appealing for me, at least I still get a full sunday.

How about switching each week, 1 week evening and one week days. It might get confusing, but it does give those people who can't attend during the day a chance to attend, and it also give those that can't race on the evening a chance to attend too.

Alternatively, sunday, 7-10am :D

As for people not putting the track away. Increase the cost to race a couple of quid, those that help out get racing at the current price. That way, those who don't want to help have the option of paying more and not helping, those who want to help feel like they're getting something for it. There's got to be some kind of benefit for people to help, sadly, that's how things work these days. Once you've helped out for 4 week, you get a free week?
