Strong cars for kids
 

My lads are using TLR 22's at the mo and they are tough cars with only a couple of breakages. But parts are getting harder to find unless getting them.from the US or Europe so with Xmas coming up in wondering if they need a change.

What's a strong car in the current stock of cars. Probably won't buy TLR again due to poor support so what are b6.1 or xb2's like? Also thinking of ease of part availability and ease of setup and use. Anything else worth considering?

My local track has all types of cars before anyone mentions that :D

Both my kids (6 and 9) are using PR racing FM cars.
They get bounced around quite a bit with minimal breakages.

B6 is a pretty tough car. My 10 year old uses one. Hes done quite a few meetings outdoors and only broken a plastic bulkhead so far.

Xray XB2, my 11 year old runs one and hasn't broken anything this year.

What's support like doesn't seem to many websites on Google stocking them? Are parts readily available?

I think pretty much all parts are available from InsideLine models.

My son has run Kyoshos for a couple of years now and the cars are bulletproof, especially the 2wd. The great thing about Kyosho is that the cars tend to evolve with a good deal of parts carry over to the new model so spares are never a problem. If you have the budget then the new RB7 is great, otherwise an RB6.6 can be had second hand for good money and easily upgraded to the latest spec as funds allow. I use PBM Racing who are very helpful but many other model shops stock them depending upon your location. Brand support is very good too with lots of help online through Facebook, group chats etc.

Another vote for the B6. I've seen them take some BIG hits and carry on without even popping a rod end.

Having run most of the platforms mentioned above (not run PR) on the toughness front I would suggest that the XB2 is probably the strongest.
The RB6 was also very strong (can't comment on the RB7 but quite a lot of that car is the same as the 6 so would expect it to be still good).
The B6 platforms are also tough but in my experience not to the level of the above (currently run a 6.1, which is great to drive, but certainly not as tough as the xb2 I had before).
Parts support for any of them is good, associated and x-ray probably a little more common, but Kyosho is certainly also good.
Good thing on the X-ray is that you can buy the part you've broken on it's own (ie 1 arm rather than a pair etc).
Any of the cars mentioned will be a good choice, would suggest to go with whichever one is most common where you run...
