Wet weather stops play!

I'll do a full report later but for now here is a summary of what happened...Images and videos to follow later!

The race started at 9am with the excellent Mardave Racer kits being handed out and a "Le Mans" style start when the buzzer set off. Chris had upgraded many elements of the racer kit so we were treated to a very nice race car for the day.

The first 4 hours went smoothly until rain stopped play and the power went off. At this stage Team Ansmann were leading the way. A break of nearly 3 hours (this is were the endurance came in!) and then the race resumed for the final 5 hours. We reduced the race time from 12 to 9 hours due to the power outage.

So to the results!

1: The Chaos Warriors: 2206 laps
2: The Dukes of Essex: 2170 laps
3: Team Ansmann: 2145 laps
4: Wolverton Warriors: 1906 laps
5: Escargots: 1788 laps
6: Real Deal: 1732 laps
7: Strawberry Crushers: 1714 laps
8: Tuesday Night Racers: 1706 laps
9: Team Monkey: 1669 laps
10: Basingstoke Bangers: 1632 laps
11: Crash Test Dummies: 640 laps

Well done to the inaugural 12 hour endurance champions - The Chaos Warriors.

It was amazing that this event almost certainly could have been completed using a single set of tyres and one motor. Tyre wear was very low when the track rubbered in.

Also nearly all the cars were lapping in the 10-11 second region at the end which is a great testament to the great kit provided by Chris@Mardave. Thanks to Mardave (www.mardave.co.uk) for the support as without it this event could not have taken place.

Thank you also to Nick from www.thestickeranddecalman.co.uk He provided some great custom numbers for the event. Definitely finished the cars off well.

Finally thanks to the drivers. Firstly for supporting the event and raising quite a bit for charity. At first count we have around £500 with more still to come.

Secondly it is also worth mentioning how patient everyone was when the power went. It was outside of our control but there was no moaning - which is a credit to everyone who took part.
