DEX 410 front wheel nuts
Hi - can anyone recommend some slim M4 nyloc nuts for the front of the car. I am fed up with the serrated kit ones and using threadlock which bungs up the axles.
Thanks Jason |
Hey mate,
standard kit wheel nuts work perfect I think. Are you having issues with them coming loose during a race? If your not happy with them, then JC do a slim serrated one. |
Thanks - as long as I use threadlock the standard ones are fine - the problem is that the threadlock is a pain to get off the axle. The original 410 had slightly longer axles and you could use the rear nyloc nuts but since they were shortened this hasn't been possible. I just wondered if anyone sold slim nyloc nuts really - cheers

Hi,
Are you running plastic or alloy hex's ? The one time i had an issue with the wheel nuts coming off in race was when i first run the plastic hex's and they had worn. After i went over to the alloy hex's i have not had any issues myself with the kit nuts. |
Hi - I run alloy hexs and the nuts always come off eventually without threadlock. By the sounds of it no one makes slim - m4 nylocs though - have searched for ages but no luck so far!

Hobbyking have very good ones in different colours

Those hobbyking ones are too thick IIRC.
You'd need to grind the serrated flange off to get the nyloc to grip the thread. (I think it's those i have at home.) BTW, i've lost one wheel in 2 years of 410 ownership. Because i didn't do it up properly. |

The most common overlooked points when wheel nuts are coming off are: 1. One or both wheel bearings in the hub are seized or in poor condition. (its normally the inside one that goes first). 2. The steel crunch spacer between the bearings is either missing or has been damaged. (If you are running a very old version of the car you might have the old alloy one in here, it's yellow, but I'm pretty sure your car should have the steel one in. |

Thanks for the help - will check the washer and bearings are ok and also keep looking for some slim nuts! Cheers
