A little advice if running speed passion gt esc. Space for electronics are limited, so the gt and a futaba 604 receiver are very hard to fit. Futaba 614ff fits much easier. Buy the smallest receiver available for your transmiter. And it is very worth the wait.

I'm triong to get my micro 40mhz receiver to work with my gemini set.:(

I guess I'll have to be patient a while longer. I am going to try some BOCA bearings orange seal and wanted to have them in hand for the new build, undoing the kit to replace bearings afterwards is never fun. And before anyone says it, I know Schumacher have included rubber sealed bearings that are real good and I've never had a problem with them in the past...but these BOCA bearings are abec 7 tolerences that are supposed to be the best available.

I'll let people know if it makes a difference.

Where would one buy such things?

I installed them on the cat and they do feel smooth, but that has to do with them being packed with grease instead of just oiled.
They are abec 7, wich means that the inner and outer diameters of the bearing are as close to spec as they can get. That doesn't make much of a difference in the belts, it made a difference in the amount of slop in the front and rear hubs. There is very little slop in them now.
I have to admit they do seem to create a little drag on the drivetrain. beacause they are packed with grease. The theory is that the grease keeps the dirt out of the bearing races hence they keep longer between rebuilds. Around here the tracks are made of grey clay that is very abrasive and hard on the cars, so the rubber seals and grease made me buy them. I only have 1 day with the car so far, so I don't know if its worth the extra money.
The red seal bearings that come with the kit are very similar to the boca. They are rubber sealed too, that look to be very good quality. I honestly didn't know that the kit came with this type bearing, I thought they came with the old syle metal shielded type, had I know I would not have bought the boca bearings.

The Chef 07-06-2011 06:49 AM

Thank you for that. Surly the clay dust and grease would turn into a grinding paste. Or are they completely sealed?

bigred5765 07-06-2011 07:35 AM

not sure on what bearings will come in public kits but mattys had orange sealed bearings in it when it came
