Schumacher Cat XLS parts - anything considered

Hi - long story short: found my old RC10 Team Car clearing out my mum's attic; rather strangely this has prompted me to really want to build a CAT XLS from scratch as this was the one car I really coveted as a kid! (I have a horrible feeling this will be the start of something unsustainble....)

Keen not to buy a complete one, so am on the prowl for all and any parts please!

Thanks, Tim

Why not buy a new re re then you can build a box fresh one?

Not enough of a "challenge" and doesn't quite feel right! For some stupid reason I want to get to as close to an original as possible (without just stumping up for someone else's vintage model) :)

Depends what you want to spend, if you find Igroomi on here he does screw kits so your sorted there. Then you need a chassis you can get either a carbon on or a fibreglass one from Fiberlitye but you'll have to supply the G10 if you want it original.
You can either ten buy most of the new spare parts of Schumacher or use old ones i bet I could get most parts together for you.

Thank you Peakey, that's really helpful. I don't mind spending a little cash as I go along to do it right. I think I've found an original chassis, but I will keep the Fiberlitye idea up my sleeve as well. For the rest of the main components, I'll try to get hold of (used/new) originals. For screws, pins, clips and bearings I'm happy to use new compatible stuff.

Am I completely mad trying to do this from original parts when the re re looks so good? Do you think there's any value in the project or am I just making a rod for my own back?

A

Another option would be to buy a second hand procat and work backwards if you still want to build an original. There will be compltete drive trains on eBay soon when the up graded trans are available

Took your advice, make sense.

Although I got a little excited and bought two.

(and to satisfy my longer-term-project-itch I'm going to attempt to build a 2010 Durango DEX410 from spares etc...)
