Old cars

Just been sorting through some rubbish in the house as we make way for the twins, and found some old photos (the old type, not digital) of my old buggies.

The old dogfighter...wish I still had it. Infact, i'm bidding on one now, it brought back such a good memory.

My beloved manta ray. Was my first RC racer, had it for about 3 years and it ended up being almost factory team spec when I'd done with it.

..and the cougar, was as keen on this one but it was fun and realy strong.

Was the Dogfighter the 'Works 95, or 98' model. I had a Works '95 and it was defo the best RC car I ever had.

Nolan

Yeah, I had it with the original shell and the Egress shell, as well as the top force one pictured.

Id get another one tomorrow but would never get it to the spec I had that one, so it wouldn't be the same.

I think the dog was the works 95 one. I bought in not long after Masami won the worlds at basildon with one in '93. The dogfighter was awesome though and that was just a standard car so can I replicate the old memory of that by buying one. :)

vintage masami worlds

I had something to fondle for a few days whilst doing the RRCi review of the CAT SX.......
http://www.telsshells.com/masami.jpg

You will see more of it in the 300th RRCi issue. :)

jim76 22-08-2008 09:47 PM

Wicked ! i love old rc cars! the cougar reminds me of summer days at school, my mates all had Boss Cat's and cougar 2000's.
I was the odd one out with a Tamiya williams FW14 F1, funny enough iv'e still got it!
I've got a few vintage cars in my collection but not much in the way of buggys other than my brand new, unused Avante 2001.......

did you ever race at the club in Deal? or one of the other local ones?

Team No Idea 22-08-2008 09:58 PM

Yeah i raced a predator at Northbourne village hall from september to december 2007 before it closed down. Before that ive never raced before.
I now race at faversham:thumbsup:

jim76 22-08-2008 10:03 PM

ah, no, i used to race at the Astor back when boss cats were around. Moved away before they moved out to northbourne.
i never went much on the faversham hall, although they did have some quick guys over there

Team No Idea 22-08-2008 10:12 PM

Yeah, i have to say i never even new these clubs existed until last year, never heard of them! i would have started racing years ago if id known. Its loads of fun and EVERYONE seems mega fast compared to me ! lol.:)
Now the racing bug has firmly set in, i would race every day if there were enough clubs to go to!

So,
Telboy, how do I get my hands on a copy of that magazine?

Looks like it could be great reading !

Stu

telboy 23-08-2008 02:56 PM

Just go and buy 'Radio Race Car international' when it comes out.:D:thumbsup: pretty sure its the next issue, which will be available at the beginning of next month.

telboy 23-08-2008 03:02 PM

Hi, being in canada, you may have to get in touch with Traplet publications and see where in the world its distributed to. Pretty sure they have a US base, but not sure if they run the same content.
I'm sure they'd send a copy over if you request one.:D

It will be in the 300th issue which will be out next month I think..or the month after.

terry.sc 23-08-2008 06:45 PM

Not bad considering Willy Chang at Pandgfx.com had to recreate most of the stickers working from photographs of Masamis car, the only decal he had to work from was one of the old Schumacher logos. Thank Jimbo Smith for sorting this out, more info here.
