Can't speak for YORCC but the transponders you mention are rare these days, think I last saw one in 1989!

They look like this these days - plug into a spare channel on the RX and mount with double sided tape on the chassis or servo.

I kinda thought If the club was lending then out they would be old style ones rather than the ones pictured I may be wrong. If anyone could shed some light on it would be grateful

I’m pretty sure the ones at my club are the old style ones where he is required but no sure on diameter. A body reamer would be a good idea then you can size it there and then within a few seconds

We have hand out transponders at York so no issue and they are the old style you are thinking off rather than the ones picured - we also have a club reemer so you can make a hole if required. i think it might need to be 5mm but im not 100%

racing this saturday - doors open at 5 - racing starts by 6.30. if you're not ready to race feel free to pop down and have a look?

Blimey - like the man with orthopaedic shoes, I stand corrected. :)

My local club uses handouts like the ones pictured, I didn't think the old style body mounted ones were still around!

I’m pretty sure when I last raced there was a Marshall hitting the number on the keyboard of a Commordore 64 every time a car went over the line !

Hand out transponders (non wired block type) are becoming rarer as they are no longer supported by AMB

Some clubs have managed to keep there's going
(Our club is struggling to keep ours alive despite valiant efforts )
We are looking into alternative options

Ye I came down a few weeks ago. Now I have a car apart from transponder and should be down tomorrow for its maiden voyage

Cheers
