Setting ride heights on a 1/10 buggy

Hi
May seem a silly question but need to ask.
Used to race 20yrs a go but this was on carpet & tarmac.
Just bought a buggy again & local track is off Road on Astro & very foreign to me.
I have been setting height static on a board with a gauge as I did 20yrs ago on carpet.
Is this correct for off road or should I be dropping from few inches then setting heights as there is a massive difference in the static height to dropped height.
Little confused so any advice appreciated
Thanks
Martin

I tend to drop my 1/10th buggy from a few inches, let it settle and then measure.

Make sure the car is race ready when your setting the ride height, ie battery, transponder etc are all in the car, with the bodyshell on.
