Awesome and I'll be trying this out pretty soon. Probably not this weekend due to it looking very wet again...

Randall34 04-12-2009 08:52 AM

Cheers Nathan,
Dc has convinced me to try the X-6 again, so a set-up from you would be well worth a drink, if it works for me - the next time you go to TORCH i'll buy you a pint at the cricketers.

Tempted to try the Schumacher shocks again instead of the Losi shocks.

Also was it BB spikes - greens or pinks? Pinks I imagine?

Also tempted to run the wishbones the right way round again, but without the holes 4mm higher

niggs98 08-12-2009 06:29 AM

will be a easy try then mike. the rear wishbones as high as you can make then in kit form is a damn good setup with everything else that is above. definatly flip the rear wishbones back the correct way. you will notice the improvment across the bumps straight away

yes it was pink bb spikes ;)

mikeyscott 12-12-2009 05:44 PM

Shocks to the rear or front, that's my current dilema. Wishbones are back as kit.

Interesting setup Grant, a few things for me to try on there.

I'm wondering what the axle low on the castor block does...

And, I didn't realise the S1 front tower was lower!

KRob 03-06-2010 08:52 AM

As requested Mikey

Associated B44. Not as comprehensive as the set-ups above because it doesn't deviate too much from kit set-up
(and it was the first time I'd run it - but it will be my starting set-up for the Nat at EPR coming up)

Front camber link kit
No.2 piston, 35wt oil, green spring, 1 droop limiter,
Outside hole on w/bone, inside hole on tower
Driveshafts level

Rear camber link as kit
No.1 piston, 25wt oil, green spring, 2 droop limiters
Inside hole on w/bone, inside hole on tower
Driveshafts level
Long wheelbase

Slipper set quite loose
Worn Schuey yellows all round (with the outside row cut-off the front)

Rudebits battery tray and straps.
Novak 6.5t motor geared at 21/84
Robitronic Speedstar 3.5 speedo

Had moved the rear shocks to the back of the rear w/bones but seems to make pretty much no difference at all.

spud31 03-06-2010 09:22 AM

so if its dry worn yellows are best tyre?

Anyone got a 511 setup for torch ?

thanks

spud

Not quite that simple I don't think.
My car was best on yellows when the dust came up a little later in the afternoon. In the morning it was rather edgy at speed.
If I had any blues I would have tried them as I reckon they will probably work better in the morning.
From what I could see and speaking to Grant, the blues allow just a smidge of slide therefore making the car a bit easier to drive over the faster and bumpier sections where the yellows would give a bit too much side grip.

I tried Hupo's astro setup and it was generally excellent. Used blue minispikes on the rear, staggered ribs on the front (mounted wide with insert).

Excellent starting point.
