New Brushless motor for FTX Blaze....

Hi,

I want to order a Losi brushless combo for my FTX Blaze and I would like some help choosing which one.....

I want it to be as 'slow' as possible so do I need 9400Kv, 8200Kv, 7400Kv, or 06000Kv?

Also what tooth pinion would you recommend?

Many thanks in advance!!!!

Tim

the kv rating is the RPM per volt. so the 6000kv would the be slowest

I've gone for the 6000Kv option to start with. If I find I want more speed I can simply upgrade the motor as the speedo will be compatible with them :D

Can't wait to get running my 1:18 Xray. Just waiting now on a charger...

Cheers Guys - I will get Russ on the case on Monday!

Does anyone know which pinion to use in the FTX?

Scott - I can't wait to see the little Xray go round the track....

Ta,

Tim

I been reading a little on this,11/49 is a good combo to keep everything nice and cool, but to get an 11 i think you will need a 5mm shaft on the motor,if the Losi system is 5mm then cool if not then i think 12 is the smallest. If the blaze is the same as my shark then standard is 13/45 i think.

It depends which one of those motors you end up buying. You'll need to know that before anyone can recommend a pinion. It also matters what shaft diameter the Losi motor has.

Mongoose motors have a 3.2mm shaft and RW Racing make anything from 9t and up. On a 10.5 Mongoose (7300kv) we commonly run 10/49 or 11/49. The stock Blaze spur is only a 45.

Help please!

I have still not bought a brushless combi for my Blaze!
Can anyone recommend a 6000kv system and the best place to get the correct spur and pinion from?
I can afford about £100 so I think it would be a Reedy or Losi combo....

Thanks in advance!

get an ezrun mate, by far the best bang for buck out there, the 18t motor clocks in @ 5400kv, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/EzRUN-18T-brus...#ht_4315wt_939

pinions are easily available on ebay, i'd start off with 13 or 14 tooth with the stock 45t spur gear, which was easily fast enough when i was running this system a few months ago.

not sure that the sub-sized 20mm can motors (castle, ezrun, mosi, reedy) can sufficiently handle the weight of a Blaze without overheating, but as has been recommended previously the larger 380-size Novak Mongoose have proven very good

as of late they've been selling for £62, motor and esc, so that should also fit within your budget

Hi Rob

Thanks for the info - that is good to know.
I have emailed CML in the UK to see if their prices are going to come down to match the prices in the USA.

What spur/pinion size would you recommend for the Blaze with that motor/esc (still 49/11T?)

Cheers,

Tim

11/49 is fine on a 13.5T on a Mongoose or 10/49 on a 10.5T. I would PM Frogger, he has a new pinion, they mesh a lot better than then Novak one's.

Thanks again.

I am very tempted to order a Novak one even though CML will not match the price in the USA

Is this the best place to get the 49T spur from:

Has anyone tried the Mtroniks brushless combo - it is 370 size and seems very good value?

Cheers,

Tim

Hi Tim:
yup, depending on your track (size/layout) and motor choice (13.5/10.5) somewhere in the 9/45T to 11/49T range should be good.
as with any BL, just keep an eye on your motor temps :D

At least £11 plus an £8 to £12 'handling fee' from royal mail/ups/dhl
But buying from the uk gets you a warranty this side of the atlantic too!
