DEX210 essential spares?

Going to start racing my DEX210 V1 - I don't have that many spares for it at the moment, just interested to learn the weak points of the buggy so I can stock up on essential parts.

I would recommend for any car a full set of wishbones. With Dex210 a spare rear shock tower (v2 seems weaker) and front hub carriers. If it doesn't have the alloy rear wishbone straps get them, as the plastic front one can allow the stud to pop out. My son and I ran them for a year and broke very little. Tough little car....

Hi
the rear inner hinge pin mount is a weak area, not sure who does them now but
there was a tresrey ali option that I run on my truck
on my buggy I ran the cream option brass one other than that, there pretty tough
I think I did the inner mount and a front shock tower in over 2 years

That's a great start cheers. Have bought some CF shock towers so will keep the standard ones as spares. Will have a look at those other bits too!

Just got to choose some new tyres and I am good to go I think..

As said towers, wishbones and front uprights.
Carbon towers do help a lot - I've also reversed the shocks on mine (behind the tower instead of in front) and haven't broken a tower since.
Alloy front uprights stopped that weakness without an increase in broken wishbones.
All my hinge pin holders are alloy too.
With that lot fitted nothing mechanical has gone in over a year. In fact the biggest problem I has was with the slipper till I switched to an Avid.

agree on the slipper, easy to over heat. spare spur gear!

Thanks Si. Does anyone know where I can get a pair of Aluminum Camber Link Mounts? I have the CF tower but no replacement mounts yet.

Stickygeko 03-11-2015 03:26 PM

Ive a dex210 v1 that Ill be putting up for sale shortly, it has a cf rear camber link holder, the outside hole is broken but the inner one is fine

Need a pair of these red ally mounts, can't seem to find them separately online. Are they only available with the tower?

I've only seen with the tower but the tresrey tower is a bit rubbish. Fortunately it's a copy of the cream tower and that fits.
I've got RDRP uprights from DMS I think.

Cheers, seen these below. Ideally wanted red though but can't seem to find them in different colours.

I'm sure inside line models have a 50%off deal on too

Si Coe 04-11-2015 11:08 PM

I too wanted red, but ended up with the black RDRP ones. Tresrey did make some at one point, but I'd already got the RDRP's by that stage so wasn't about to buy another set just for the colour.
You might be able to find some Tresrey's in stock somewhere.

Nick_MSM 05-11-2015 11:37 AM

Cheers, realised my front tower isn't Tresrey but by someone else. Decided to go for a new tower and the black Exotek mounts anyway.

Can I pick your brains please Si? Need some new tyres (in particular fronts) - I'll be racing on outdoor astro, would these be a good choice?

The tyre is right but you don't want pre-glued because thats on a Cougar wheel and it won't fit the standard 210 axles.
Actually checking again thats the standard cut stagger, whereas the preferred one is the low profile - run without inserts.
Thats the most common choice for 2wds on astro.
At the back you'll want Schumacher Yellow Minispikes with medium inserts. Thats in the dry - What works in the wet will depend on your track. Where I race drains very well and retains grip in the wet surprisingly well but most tracks don't.

Thanks Si, very helpful  Looking forward to getting it all put together now and out racing a week Sunday.

Does anyone know if anywhere stocks black wheels? Really like the look but can't find anywhere that has stock.
