netbook usb fault
 

got a net book, runing xp, if i plug a usb mouse in any usb port it works, if i plug a memory stick, card reader, external cd it powers the device, beeps that the netbook has seen it yet shows nothing on my computor, or will not work

any help and im on it for a week and my hd has just died on my pc....
