Bumper day for Xfactory as Cockerill and Stafford win

The final round BRCA 2WD National series took place today at York Clubs brand new RobinHood Raceway venue. Tom Cockerill took early control of qualifying, absolutely dominating with a pace that no one could match - taking all four rounds of qualifying against the best the UK had to offer. Toms XFactory X6, powered by Vampire cells and Novak electrics lined up pole in the A final and only a mistake in leg two spoilt a perfect day - with Tom winning his first, and very well deserved, BRCA National.

Ellis Stafford also confirmed the overall 2WD national championship title by finishing 2nd overall to Tom - enough to leapfrog XFactory team mate Phil Sleigh and retain his title for the second year in a row. 6 rounds of the 2WD Championship have seen 6 different drivers take wins - amazing.

Full report, interviews and gallery will be online soon! Thanks to our sponsors for the oOple coverage of this series, Schumacher Racing.

Excellent for Tom and Ellis well done. Unlucky Phil.

jono83 29-08-2009 07:53 PM

Congrats to Tom and Ellis

YoungChazz 29-08-2009 07:56 PM

MAJOR congratulations to all four X-Team drivers at Blythe and for the entire season!

To Tom, for his first TQ, first win, and race domination.

To Ellis, Two In A Row. Way to go, Captain!!!

To Phil, for his first National win, and second in the Championship.

And to Super Dan, for his first A Final and best year ever.

It's been an incredible two years for X Factory. Somebody put me back in my cage before I hurt myself! So proud for The Boyz.

stegger 29-08-2009 07:59 PM

Well done Tom  and well done to Ellis for taking 2WD national championship 2 years in a row :thumbsup::thumbsup: were did sleigh finish ? does he finish runner up in the championship ?
:thumbsup::thumbsup: Way to go X-FACTORY :thumbsup::thumbsup:

jono83 29-08-2009 08:04 PM

NeilD 29-08-2009 08:10 PM

Well done TC.

YoungChazz 29-08-2009 08:31 PM

Yes, Phil is second in the Championship. X Factory 1-2 and 2 in a row.

Yep just to mirror everyone else comments, I have just got back home in Watford from the long trip back from the track at Blythe and what a great result all round for the whole team today.

Tom was awesome, he looked so smooth and in control all day, very un-Tom like to be honest, well deserved TQ and win. This result elavated him in the championship to his favourite postion in racing - 11th

Dan was just chuffed to be in the A, I even told him if he didint finish top three in the last leg that he would be sacked and low and behold after two tenth places he was running third for over 2 minutes if the last leg, but then dropped a few places (sorry mate - fired :p LOL --- Joking, before anyone says anything)

Phil once more showed great consistency by putting it in the A again but just ran out of his "2009" luck today and could not quite hang on to his slender series lead, but 2nd is no walkover and is still a great result by anyones level

Then Ellis, who had his work to do today and was under immense pressure (mostly put on by himself) but with a combination of controlled agression, smooth driving (yes Ellis and smooth, not normally two words in the same sentance) and his own little slice of luck when Tom went over in leg 2, came though to a guarrenteed 2nd which was enough for him to retain his 2wd title.

Back to Back titles is great, not just for Ellis himself but the whole team, a series 1-2 is a superb acheivement (with 4 X6's in the top ten) and 4 national wins in a season with four different drivers using the car is just amazing (Phil, Ellis, Tom and our most famous "non" sponsored driver Kevin Lee - LOL :p)

For me, I am proud of the job these guys have all done for our team this season and have shown once more that the X-Factory X6 Squared car is THE car to beat at present on most tracks, Tom has today given VAMPIRE RACING its first national TQ and win using all their products and of course their LIPO batteries too and all drivers have been using CVD's (Tom was using the all new C-CVD's today) from MIP also. All drivers are using carbon fibre parts such as the front shock tower and carbon squat shimz from the DMS PARTZ range too.

Chazz has a team that he should be proud of this evening.......

Yo Darren. Any chance that might be TWO hours 33 minutes, about 65 MPH average?

One hour 33 min = 110 MPH average.

Do The Math!

If it is one hour 33 min, it will cost you dearly for me not to tell Michelle!!!

I left the track at just before 8pm and pulled into the TGI Friday's restaurant in Watford (about 3 miles from home) at just after **:30pm to meet up with some friends who had been racing 1/8th scale at Slough. I did check the sat nav and ther "whole" journey (to home) was 153 miles and not 163 like I put, but it certainly was not a slow journey home ;) (must of been the excitement of the day... I knew I took the car instead of the van for a reason!!)

LOL, just had one of those "lucky" journeys with no traffic or hold ups anywhere. It took me nearly 3hr to do the same journey there in the morning with traffic jams and holds up everywhere....

Congrats the X-Factory team. When I retire my XXCR I'll be looking at one of these. Wish I'd kept my B4 now..

super__dan 31-08-2009 07:13 PM

Thanks to everyone who was so nice on sat and congratulated me and patted me on the back, I really was made up and had a massive grin on my face. Legs 1 and 2 I was a big girls blouse but got involved in leg 3 which really finished my year off on a high :)

Go team!

Northy 31-08-2009 07:25 PM

We all love you Dan :)

I love seeing what I class as "my guys" (NE drivers) in the main - well chuffed with this weekend, and it's great to see how all the NE guys rally round if the guys need any help with the three legs

RS6+ would make that pretty comfortable, however i'm not sure that bragging about averaging 135mph on a Motorway (via a Public Forum) is such a great idea

Granted. Equally I know the RS6 is limited to 155 (unless you pay a visit to a nice tuner), however the problem is I just can't see it being the average speed. RS6/RS4 are on the list of must have cars for me.. I'll settle for a MK5 R32 or new S3 for the mo...

I have done a very quick run to Le Mans and I was very quick, but my average was certainly not that high. Calais to Le Man, 3am motorway. Get the picture.

Indeed wouldn't got bragging plus I think it's pretty stupid as most of us are pretty below par handling a car at that speed.
