Been in talks with Tony Mulligan at SRCC about making K Factory style Mounts for the X-6, maybe out of brass. Would there be any demand for these or would I be waisting my time?

Edit...

Update to first post so people don't need to go hunting in the thread...

Right prototypes finished..

Cool

Think the demand would be there as plenty of towers around but no alley bits

Yeah I noticed that, Looks like I'm just jumping on the band wagon, but if you look here http://www.srcc.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=1325.0 , you'll see it was mentioned to me at the begining of the month.

Speaking as a buyer, competition is always good!!

YoungChazz 29-04-2010 08:57 AM

I would not want to add weight that high up and at the very rear.

Moving the weight down and inboard defines The New Math.

How about making the mounts in stainless steel like your front and rear bulkheads so that you can offer something different to the brass version being worked on? Definitely gives people choice.

IceMike 29-04-2010 11:31 AM

I would prefer steel

TBH I didn't know there where brass ones being worked on.
Also the cost of machining Stainless is a lot greater than brass. Having said that if that's what people would like, I'd look into making them in Stainless.
Plus the stainless bits although I'm getting great feed back from the people that have had them, They're not exactly flying off the shelf so to speak. All that I've sold are from the Southport club that have actually seen them. Guess people don't like change :).

tell you what would be even nicer.

titainum ones would looke cool and make the car lighter.

Might be a little costly thought

My ultimate product wish for the last years' been titanium torx screws! (doesen't exist)

RudeTony 29-04-2010 02:36 PM

Hi all - RudeBits have been working on these parts for some 3 months. Yes as far back as then but with so so many new products and the demand that drivers require, it has been difficult to test and put in production. They are now very very close to being available for everyone. They will not be brass - Brass is too heavy for this position on a 2wd buggy and the weight would also be in front of the front axle - not good as many top drivers would agree!!
Alloy, Titanium or even some aircraft stainless or similar is what we are working on but on the same token we make parts to perform and therefore some measurement changes may need to be made for maximum impact of the production of this new product can make. These are currently being tested prior to mass production. I hope this helps with some of the questions. All the best for now and meanwhile check out the website for the latest products of so many cars .....

Cream 29-04-2010 04:06 PM

weight I can't really see being a factor...

2 blocks 10mmx10mmx15mm i.e. way more than these blocks will be. weight the following

mild steel. 23 g
brass 25.5 g
stainless steel 24 g
titanium 13.5 g
lead ;) 34 g
ali. 8g

So any worries about weight are unfounded IMHO.

Remember these are way over what the item would weigh in at.

Darren Boyle 29-04-2010 04:34 PM

Even an extra 20gramm up front and that high WILL make a big differance to a 2wd car's handling.......
