hi. im planning on buying a kit soon i will be mainly on turf and i am only allowed to race 2wd 10.5t for my first year in the club. i have a few questions and please remember my budget isnt massive

1. esc motor combo i was looking at the hobbywing line ezrun quicrun?? recommendations?

2.servo something around the 30-50 price range?

3.radio/receiver? . doesnt have to be fancy but just work

4. tires and also ideas on tire wear please and how many i will need for a race day we have no control tire but we have a recommended tire and its the
Schumacher Mini Spikes in Yellow compound on the rear with medium Foam inserts. Schumacher P/N U6558 and U6734. On the front use Schumacher Cut Staggers in Yellow Compound, Schumacher P/N U6770.

Hi mate in answer to some of your questions

Have you decided which car you will be getting

1 Hobbywing quicrun esc is fine make sure you get the 10bl120 as for motor have a look at speed passion or ruddog price from £36-£53 which will be a better motor then the quicrun

2 servo savox 1258 is very popular at about £48 and will do you fine ( I run one in my car)

3 radio will you be running sticks or wheel

Hope this helps a little bit

Yes and no.. Leaning towards the Schumacher couger laydown or kc for Turf.

And wheel radio

If going with Schumacher I would go with the laydown mate also for radio this would do you perfectly unless you wanted to spend more

The father could be getting a buggy aswell it's probably better to get 2 identical cars right? Focus on mastering that one car together rather than 2 different types and set ups

What about tires do they wear out fast or will one set do me a while 🤔 I have heard mixed reports on this.

If you are both beginners, identical buggies will probably not be a bad idea. TBH i'd be looking for identical everything, for simplicity and availability of spares (you'll only need one set instead of two) plus you only have to learn one car/radio/ESC/pinion set up.

What car do they run at the club? You'll probably find that one is more popular than all the others, so it'll be easier to get hold of emergency spares and set up tips etc.

the father likes the older rear cab look is there a modern chassis that has that old baja look while still being competitive ?

So I just got back into racing, and I was also on a budget, I bought:

Cougar KC 2nd hand rolling chassis with upgrades £150
The orange Savox servo's are popular - new around £50 second hand £30ish
Hobbywing do an ESC for about £70 (see modelsport) its 120amp, and fine for a new starter I am using an 8.5t motor on it fine. program card is about £10
Motor I bought a second hand Hobbywing V10 for £30
Batteries I bought Centro 2S 100C lipo''s and a Power Pal 3.0 charger

Radio gear I have no idea on wheel radio's
