apparently he is walking, thank ***k. what a mental smash - the energies involved were just huge.

Did the Ferrari not see him then ?? Shows it dosent take much for the cars to fly one the balance point has been tipped...

Glad he seems ok :)

Moozo 17-06-2012 01:57 PM

He has a cracked vertebrae in two places, staying in hospital over night is walking though and of course ALIVE :D

As soon as the car got sideways it took off.......

Safety car was out for over an hour

It's due to the AM cat in GT2

Yeah I know that some one will get killed eventually lucky for ant he will be ok.

I don't know what the answer is but surly they need to do somthing.

That wasnt such a bad crash, several years back when mercedes were racing their crash was more immense. Track been made safer and ruined this race but the drivers are being paid danger money and they all know the dangers involved.

didn't webber have quite a big off back in the day, driving for mercedes? where he flipped about 12 times and left the track?

edit: both peter dunbreck and mark webber had similar smashes within a day of each other - slight 'design flaw' in the aero package of the clr merc...

metalmickey0 18-06-2012 08:13 AM

yeah didnt a merc end up in the trees that time when it went airborne over the rise on a straight too. Glad they both ok tho. sort of

discostu 18-06-2012 12:24 PM

yeah it was 1999.

a different incident tho the merc were like previously mentioned had a design flaw.

davidson and the two Peugeot last year were all down to a slower ferrari.

Welshy40 18-06-2012 12:24 PM

Yup thats the one. Aero package was wrong, Mercedes didnt design the underpan correctly so the air didnt suck the car to the ground.

terry.sc 18-06-2012 12:28 PM

Well the ugly fin really worked to stop it flipping when it went sideways didn't it.

Toyota have checked the chassis and they say it's intact and can be used again, which shows just how strong the car was.

Welshy40 18-06-2012 12:51 PM

Mark Webbers flip is not in video form, just pictures but the chassis stayed in tact considering how fast he was going that showed great engineering in protection for the driver.

or this touring car crash

I have found a couple of horrific crashes which were instant death crashes which I wont put on here.
