I require some sort of a power supply!
Hi guys,
I'm a bit lost at the moment, i run electric 1/8 buggys, and run 4s batterys. To charge those battery's i normally connect my CHARGER to my dad's or friends CAR BATTERY. Problem is,my dad drops me off to races now, meaning i don't have a car battery. What can i do? If i buy a car battery,i'll have to charge that somehow, and it weights about 12 tonnes! What are the other options? Thanks. |
if you have sockets available, just get a psu (power supply unit).
hobby king have them from about $25, you'll probably need something with a bit more grunt to charge 4s. if there are no sockets, it's generator or car battery |

This is the problem,
how do i charge a CAR BATTERY? i've got one at the moment but no idea what to do! and its bloodly heavy. What does this power supply actually do? i just connect my charger straight to the car battery then connect my lipo to the charger, Thanks for the link by the way. |

Thanks for the help so far guys, hpi willl pm you in a second.
Would a 12v Sealed Lead Acid Battery (For Starter boxs) work ? Its smaller and lighter than a car battery. I'll only be charging my battery twice or 3 times MAX during the race, Its a 14.8volt 5000mah lipo battery (that i'll be charging) Thanks. |
Nas, you only need a power supply if you're using 240v supply and your charger is 12v only. If your charger does both then no psu needed.
I may well be teaching you to suck eggs... but 240v is mains power and 12v is car power. Use these http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_tr...at=0&_from=R40 to charge your 12v car battery at home |

And rather than hammering your ordinary 12v RC car charger, filling a huge (relatively) car battery, just get a trickle charger for it from Halfords or something, last one i bought (a long time ago) was about 15 quid. Lasted me 10 years. Then i kicked it down the stairs by mistake. This depends on how big your new sealed lead acid battery is of course!! |
