What 2wd to buy
 

hi all,i have been running nitro rallycross over the summer and am going to run electric at torch for the winter series but am out of touch lately about stuff reqd,all opionions greatful many thanks john abbott:thumbsup:

Waaay too many to choose from today.
But competition can be a good thing.

I'd say the best thing to do first is to go to your track you plan on racing at, see what are commonly ran and what parts are available (unless you order all your stuff online anyway).

Saying that though, I've now had an X6 Sq, XXX CR, DEX210 and now have an RB6.
The RB6 is hands down the best of them and others but it comes at a cost.

If I didnt get the RB6 I wouldve gotten the TLR 22 (or 2.0 now).

The car works out the box, no "extras" or upgrades are needed, and it's bullet-proof solid.

hey jon , i have a kyosho db1 and for me its been the best 2wd i have ever used , theyre exspensive but well worth it !! otherwise an rb6 seems a good choice ..

oh and good choice on the track , torch is a wicked track , im there pretty much every meeting :thumbsup:

Thanks guys,I used to run tlr22 so I was thinkin of either that,rb6 or db1 but as yet undecided

RB6 and DB1 are great choices for Torch as Kyosho is well represented down there, so you'll never be short of help.

Just to confuse things further though... are you aware the DB2 is about to be released? There is certainly nothing wrong with the DB1 though, and there will be good second hand options about i'd imagine.

Kyosho DB1 is an awsome car which runs great on the Torch track. Mikey Scott's Db1 will be a decent car(only has the best/latest gear!) and worth having a look at also he is local to you. I would personally go for a 4wd as the winter is always wet and the 2wds do struggle for grip and if you wanted you could easily convert the 4wd to 2wd.

I'm not sure on the price of the DB2 to be honest. Tony Evdoka from Rudebits is the man you would need to speak to about the conversion. Here is a thread in his trader section showing a couple of pictures of the car.

If you are at TORCH on Sunday I think you might see 1 or 2 of the first off cars :)

I've just built a DEX210 cause it was cheap and I wouldn't go for it for the second time lol.

For me it would be the B4.2 car handles really good and drives like a 4wd + Team Associated just released the Centro B4.2 ! Not sure how part support is in UK ?
Love the car :)

Definitely the B-Max2, I went from a 210 and it's much better really nicely balanced and excellent value.

There is another option to consider that's the team c tm2 it has the same layout as the up and coming db2 at a fraction of the cost. I think you can pick one up brand new for about £200 and also consider dualsky esc & motors I have run these esc& motor combo since the beginning of this year and it has run faultless , the tm2 is more suited at high grip tracks but has been working very well on other tracks also anyway just another to consider

Decisions decisions too many to choose from

I was struggling a bit with my Durango 210 (expecially on astro), although I know they can be very competitive, so I decided to get a Team C TM2 last Friday.

I built it and ran it for the first Time at Coastal on Sunday (Astro). It was competitive immediately, although was slightly tricky on wet astro with the tires I had (yellow mini spikes). Once it dried out, the car worked very well, and positively flew round the track. Only a grenading motor could prevent a great final result.

The next day I took it to Gt Braxted (bumpy / grassy / dirt) and thought I'd try it, although I know it's not meant to be the TM2's forte.

It was tricky to drive, and even after a few tweaks, needed careful throttle control. However, I was still able to be competitive, and Qualified 3rd for the A final, and drove on to 2nd place (12 secs behind first), which I was very happy with.

It's definitely a car worth considering.

I've had so many issues with mine and blew my ESC because of one of them. I won't go into on here but will be taking it up with Durango.
Im frankly appalled with the quality of it and probably not an ideal car for a beginner/novice to start with.

It's funnily enough the opposite of my DEx410 which is fabulously engineered.

Looks like I made right decision,makes a change lol
