Is this a legit email from Oople?
 

I just received an email.....

Dear Squidzilla,

Someone has tried to log into your account on oOple.com Forums with an incorrect password at least 5 times. This person has been prevented from attempting to login to your account for the next 15 minutes.

The person trying to log into your account had the following IP address: 117.173.20.235

The IP address listed is from Beijing... so im quite intrigued if it is legit why they are trying my account?

Don't worry about it. It's been happening a few times recently. I've already banned some subdomains.

They use general passwords - such as your username (even vBulletin reports to me if you have used your username as a password) And then a few common passwords like 1234 or 'password' etc.

They do this to gain access to a legit account to post up spam - that looks genuine. Companies pay for services like this, then a couple of years later contact me to beg that spam is removed since google recognises them as spammers and downgrades their google ranking.

So - nothing to worry about. Please make sure your passwords are proper passwords. If someone's account is hacked just give me a shout. I will go ban this sub domain now.

Similar IP address is listed TODAY on stopforumspam - so anyway I've already blocked 117.173.20.XXX - I'll block 117.173.XXX.XXX as they are all in China from what I can see.

If you do, please list up the IP so I can block it, cheers!

As I say - nowt really to worry about. They're hitting thousands of forums not you specifically.

Jimmy every time I try to log in on my phone I can't and I get same email saying someone tried to log in to your account , I've tried shouting and saying I know it's me :lol:

Worse case scenario I can change your password, email you it an then you can log on and change it to something that you would like to keep, but this will hopefully sort it.
