RB5 Diff maintenance

Hi Guys,

THis is my first time seriously running 2wd, I was wondering how long you'd normally leave it between diff rebuilds?

I am running a 9 single motor in it so it is being strained pretty highly!

I am asking as obviously in a 2wd a diff rebuild means removing the entire rear end and then taking the gearbox apart!

Also, would you guys ever change the idle gear cogs or do these last a long time?

And finally, where can I get suitbale grease to replace the kyosho white/black grease, I can't find them anywhere!?

Thanks,

Dave

You don't need to take the whole back end apart to get the tranny housing out. The idle gears should last quite a while. You can use Associated Diff lube and Black grease.

Change the main diff balls for some better ones like associated carbide ones, then you shouldn't have to touch the gearbox for a while.
The idler will wear but it should last a good while, not something I'd worry about too much.

I have fitted the 'atomic carbon' ceramic ones into mine very fair price and ultra smooth running.
