What is faster? 2500KV or 2800KV?

Hi,

Is it faster to use a 2800KV BL or a 2500KV BL?
The 2500KV would be used with a 15/50 gear and the 2800KV with a 14(13)/50 gear. And which one is mor poreful to get in the shortest time the highest speed?

Thanks

2800kv would be quicker

jasonwipf 04-08-2010 07:16 PM

unless he geared it down like suggested. sort of a loaded question.

2800kv would definately be quicker. Actual speed and acceleration would be decided by what type of car you have (buggy, truggy etc.) and what battery you would use.

Thanks,

I would you use a Asso RC8e and the LRP 5900mah 50c(4s) or the Turnergy 4500mah 30c(4s)

Electric is great

yes i am planning on using my buggy with a 2650kv motor tekin . i have seen the same set up on youtube on 4s, its total madness. if you can drive it around a track lol. your doing well as its like a rocket too fast to handel

Kamikaze_racer 05-08-2010 02:08 PM

No, its a must to get the speed as the Gas cars have. 4s is ok. I couldn't mind to drive with 3s that must be slow  :D

I've never seen anyone driving with 3s in a 1/8th electric rc car ;)

There are a few of them here running 3s 2650kv. They go down the straightaway about the same speed as me in a 4s 1900kv. But I see them run hotter so its not for me.

in case you was not aware.

the KV rating is how many rpm the motor will spin per volt.
So the higher the KV the more RPM.

Also be aware that the amount of poles on the motor can affect torque, I found that a 2 pole motor is very torqy. and a 4 pole much smoother and less aggresive.

Yes I know, but 2500KV has more turning moment and less rpm but you can run them with a longer gear and the 2800KV has more rpm than turning moment but you can't run them with a longer gear
