Track work - 28th November
Hi guys,
First apologies that I've not been over to help out with the track work, though I am free this Sunday so just wanted to check whether any work is going on? Looks like it's going to be a cold one, brrrr. Alas all my Sundays are already booked in December with panto's, santa train rides and the like so after this weekend the next time I'll be able to help is January - sorry. :) |
I'll be down this weekend, i guess sunday would be best?
What will the plan be for this weekend? |
Fingers crossed I'll be down on Sunday too.
|
Yep, I'll be there Sunday.
If we can get the rest of the membrane/astroturf down we should be able to actually start thinking about laying the track. Have to work faster to keep warm!! Rob |
See you there tomorrow :)
|
Do we need to bring any tools with us tomorrow, if so anybody know which ones?
:) |

thanks |
Morning guys, had intended to come down again today. But sickness bug is making its way through the house hold (not pleasant!!!). Hope to see you next week...
|
Sorry could not make it, how did it go?
|
I left just after 1.00pm and at that stage we had got all the membrane down, all the long strips of new astroturf down and started filling in gaps with old astroturf in front of rostrum and in pits. A lot of the astroturf was frozen so we spent some time unfolding it so it would thaw out. Also had the wacker machine and I think it was Neil who did a sterling job of trying to flatten the track.
Still need to pin or glue the edges of the astroturf down and then we can finally start track building. Numbers were down a bit this week but if we can get enough volunteers over the next two weekends then I reckon we might still see a bit of racing before Christmas, failing that maybe a New Year track opening meeting on the 2nd Jan? Good work, looking forward to coming down in January

I would suggest that next week, everyone should go armed with a mastic/silicone gun. Purely because that seems to be a very time consuming process. Or maybe come up with a different technique. Three hours to glue one joint and 100 bricks, means we will be gluing for days. And i'm not sure if it can be done if the astro is wet.
|
I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure no other astro tracks are glued together.
They all seem to just have the edges nailed or pinned down with flat top hoops, if that makes sense. But I'm one to talk, I've still not managed to get over there to help yet :-( |
Large flathead nails and Duck tape?
