CA glue: Loctite vs Branded stuff
 

Do i really need to buy the branded stuff or is it all the same just CA rebadged? ive been using loctite and the annoying thing is the nozzle but the glue seems ok although tyres have become unseated during spirited bashing

wondering if its the glue or me!?

I have used many types of CA glue over the years. I have found ZAP (Pacer's pink and green for that matter) not to be so great as well as a heap och generic brands. German large scale RC car maker FG Modellsport makes an excellent tire glue as does Tamiya (CA cement for rubber tires). FG's bottle is OK, but in the large side. Tamiy's offering is cheap and comes in a small package. The tube is in all honesty not so good, but the glue sure is. The Tamiya product comes in small packages, so it does not feel like a waste if the nozzles (you get two) go completely bad before its empty.

I only use Tamiya's glue, but would not hesitate to use FG's either. I have a friend that is a very competitive racer who swears by Loctite's CA glue. So perhaps it is you. :lol: In all honesty, perhaps they have several and I do not know which one he uses.

I let my tires soak in hot water with ample washing up liquid and I then use some pure alcohol co clean all chemical residue that may be left from the manufacturing process. I used a coarse wet sand paper to roughen up the rims before I glue. If you do that the tires should wear out or break before come loose from the rim.

+2 Bob Smiths...its stick quick though so let it run around the bead and get ya bell ringers out the way quick!! :p or you will glue them straight to your Hale and Pace!! lol this stuff is savage but completely brilliant on all tyres...quick tip...keep it in the fridge and it will stay super thin and runny for yonks :thumbsup:

I've always used Loctite and the product is great. I agree with the nozzle, it can come out quickly. My solution is to use superglue nozzles. They just press over the bottle, easy. I leave one on all day the blow it out with cleaner and use it again.

Superglue
 

Quickfix superglue from the £1 shop, 12 tubes for a pound no less. Use once and throw away when done. Even enough in a tube to cyano a chassis or even nasty scalpel cuts from cutting out abs bodyshells.

All superglues work, some for different applications but they all require you to do some prep before glueing bits back together or it just wont stick properly. I bet every single one of the super glues available will stick your fingers together very well indeed with very little effort.

I've used it for the past couple of bottles, and have liked it alot. Good glue, and I find the tip/nozzle to last longer than the super-skinny tubes that come with other makes.

I used the stuff in the blue bottle. (it's very thin)

Not to mention, it's something like only $3 a bottle here.

do you guys use the spray activator for the glue when putting on new tyres.

Another vote for bob smiths , Never need to use activator it goes off very quick.
