SENSORED VS SENSORLESS
This my first year in racing and Iam quite the beginer,I bought myself a mimi 8 for winter season and also got a used cougar sv pro roller for summer.Iam looking for motor ESC and servo to put in the pro,my mate who has raced for along time said I should get a sensored brushless motor for the car....my question is as a beginer do I really need the sensored motor?? and whats the pros and cons of the two?Looking for good advice :thumbsup:

just go sensored trust what you have been told sensorless is a waste of time unless ur bashing,

Sensored or sensorless
Simply put a sensored based system gives more control and better standing / slow starts, at any given time the ESC knows where the rotor in the motor is and what inputs to give to get the best out of it.
A sensorless system basically does not have as much control so standing or slow starts might be a bit jerky ( cogging ). Save your pennies and buy a sensored system, there are loads out there and some come up in the trade section on here for reasonable money. Just do what you have done here - ask questions ! I am sure someone else will make a welcome addition to this. |

ESC system
Best thing to do is get a decent Brushless speed controller with view to the future that you are going to want to upgrade your motor to say a 6.5 bl.
This will safeguard against you buying a system that is limited to 10.5 minimum. I would go for the Hobbywing 120A V2/V2.1 this will easily able to cope with extra demands in the future of a lower 'wind' motor. Also dont forget that nearly all brushless motors will run on any brushless system so there is no need to buy the same brand as the ESC. |

Sensorless or sensored
Hello I tested an engine sensors and I did not want to try a sensorless motor control smoothness and is infinitely better.

the 60A hobbywing speedo will be fine for your needs with a 10.5 motor to start.
If you want to upgrade to a faster 7.5 or even 6.5 then the speedo will cope fine. You only really need the 120A speedo for 4wd, but if your budget can stretch to it then it will be a little more bullet proof than the 60A |
Ended up going with the Hobbywing 120amp ,10.5 sensored combo,once I can handel that I think Ill take your guys addvice and move up to a 7.5 or 6.5 CHEERS :thumbsup:

I run a ezrun 60a and a ezrun 5.5t in my 4wd,with no problems....just made a couple of very small holes in the body to let air n...
