I think all carpet setups have the shocks on the front of the rear wishbone, that's where I ran mine and it was phenomenal. Just an observation.

I think the new shock caps are excellent, an improvement over the alloy ones. The alloy ones would wear and get a bit of play in them, the plastic ones are a tighter fit, and shouldn't wear as much....

Your gearing needs may vary considering...

Moving from 83 / 23 to 76 / 28 is a drastic change.
You effectively have a delta of 7 pinion teeth. If keeping the same motor, I have never had a delta of more than 3 pinion teeth.
