Dave, it's "sort of" the same arm. Fairly sure it started life as the very same arm, but had a hole or 2 added. Infact there's about 3-4 versions of that arm, let's say it evolved over time!

Sanwa had one as well that did the same. I ran them for a while and never noticed. The issue is servo / pot (or encoder) hunting. It's very common in industrial servo systems (CNC machines etc)...

I've only run it with modified as that's all I run, and I still run it mounted forward....

Pretty much all 1/10 touring cars use 3mm shafts, so you should be good with most of those. Universal ones from Much More and the likes are as good a bet as any.
