Do you have access to another pc, a mates etc. I had this issue with my laptop, but then it worked fine with my main pc. Incidently it was also a Dell laptop running service pack 2 at the time... Trying it elsewhere is without doubt your best option. Maybe drink or share your beer at your mates whilst hijacking his pc
