Any racer will tell you sensored is the only way to go, which if you are on the track is true. But if you aren't racing and you don't need accurate throttle control then you won't really notice the difference and you will find many more non racers happy with sensorless than you will find racers insisting on sensored. After saying that, a sensored system usually gives you more options for tuning, so you can limit the power delivery to help the Lazers drivetrain.
This one is a better one than the Etronix combo for the same price. For £20 more than that Etronix system, you could buy
this motor and
this ESC for a cheap fully programmable sensored system.
Even if your ESC doesn't work, old racers brushed systems go for pennies on ebay. Old top spec race ESCs sell for around £10, and the same for motors. Most of us could probably dig out an old brushed motor if needed to get your daughter started.
