tricky one as it depends on the track.. when i ran tourers i ran a ratio in the 7's for twisty tracks (smaller pinions such as 21-25) & 6's for big open fast tracks (anything up to the 30's). A lot of it though depends on the motor temperature after a run, if the motor is boiling hot, run a smaller pinion, if it's cool, run a bigger one.
Ideally you want to get the car at it's top speed (i.e it keeps accelerating until it can't go any higher) just before you need to slow for the corner at the end of the straight.
