I completely agree that the tuning and maintenace of brushed motors was a skill that was once a large part of racing which with the inception of brushless motors has now been lost...

But I've got to admit that I don't particularly miss it, I'm now older & have more responsibilities & I'm glad that I can just pick up my car on a Tuesday night & race it without worrying about motor prep, skimming, changing brushes etc just to be able to keep up. I like the fact that you can now buy more power/speed than you can handle straight over the counter... there was nothing more frustrating than timing the top sponsored drivers down the straight & realising that they were gaining nearly a second just by driving in a straight line!
