Default Mid Essex Radio Car Club

This is to update people on the popular Mid Essex Radio Car club, based between Chelmsford and Colchester in Essex, 5 mins from the A12.

Mid Essex Radio Car Club (established in 1984 as Springfield Buggy Club and then as Springfield Radio Controlled Car Club) has, since its early days, enjoyed a reputation for its friendliness and emphasis on 'fun'. Many members have, over the years, achieved considerable success at Regional, National & International level and in team competitions.

The club is open to Nitro's (Buggy's and Truggies) and Electric (2wd class and 4wd class).

The track is very short cut grass (very friendly on cars) and has a fixed concrete jump, an astroturf tabletop, an astroturf woops section, purpose built rostrum, race control/timing (with full race commentary and loudspeaker system), grass parking in a huge area, and toilets. It currently measures 45.5m X 23m but is in the process of being extended to 53.5m x 27m (or about an extra 35% of useable space)! We are also adding portable jumps for this season which starts on April 11th for a seasonal open. Trophies are also awarded at every meeting.

Speaking from personal experience I have always found the club to be extremely well organised, very friendly, and good for both novices (like me) and more expert racers. Everyone enjoys their days racing at MERCC!

I have provided a link to the club below for those who would like more details as more information will be added there closer to the season start in April.
