Could just be competitive pricing from US stores and low stock levels
By the time you add shipping cost, VAT at 20% and the customs handling fee, it comes to over £250, which certainly isn't enough of a saving to warrant buying from abroad.
I really do hope AE don't go down the 'update model every year' road...
