Silverstone 2WD Buggy
Hi
If you want race at Silverstone I would say a Schumacher KF2 would be the best as most people run them so spares and set will be easily available. Ian |

Hi Tommy,
You could try a Hobbywing V3.1 or a Sky RC toro ts 120 or 160 Race night for buggies is Tuesday's Trucks and buggies run on a Friday night which is a more relaxed night Saturday's is practice day. Regards Ben |

Thing is schumacher change their cars far too often and their car isnt as easy for starters as others, Sworkz is a tough car that other manufactures are following suit in design and can take punishment and goes really well.
Esc well there are plenty to choose from and maybe something that can handle a 7.5 turn brushless motor will be cheaper if on a budget, so maybe a cheapo hobby king but ive gone for lrp flow works and same brand motor and works really well. Battery i use shorty 4500 orion which is superb. Charger i also use lrp quadra charger but you need to buy the balance lead separately but is superb and has usb port on it. Dont need a power supply with it.

I already have a v3.1 hobby wing esc so will probably stick with them as I have the program box and software on my laptop.
Sadly I will need to buy another as it's the 100a version. I already have chargers transmitter transponders etc so it's just batteries I will need. I was always an xray fan in my touring car days, does anyone run the xray buggy? |

I have used a hobbywing xtreme stock 60a with 7.5t motor running 40 steps of boost at silverstone and never had any issues with them. Have the same setup in all three 2wd cars so a 100a esc will be fine.
Car wise any low rider car will work at silverstone so long as you put a setup on that works for you. As pointed out the kf2 is well proven but can be seen as fragile if your not experienced - X-ray are strong, well built but as they were a new car last year people were still learning the setup. Yokomo Yz2 and the b6 will be strong performers and decent reliability too and setup advice is easy to come by as popular choices.

Take a trip down on a Tuesday, Friday or Saturday, I would say the vast majority run KF/KF2 and they work very well, with lots of setup help, spares and team drivers (and Mr Schumacher himself) attending regularly as their HQ is just around the corner.

im going to pop over on a race night and decide what car to buy from there. will i need to join the club prior to having a practice on a saturday as i have never driven off road buggies before and would like to have a go before racing. i do have a current brca license. |

As you have a BRCA license you should be fine, you don't have to be a Club member to race, but it will cost a little more, so worth joining if you will be regular.
I agree that you will be hard pushed to find a more competitive car than the Schumacher KF / KF2 at silverstone. I have a KF that could be for sale, as its just gathering dust since I got my KF2. I'll be there most Tuesday's if you want to have a chat about setups and gear. Nigel |

Bring the car down tonight if you can make it.
Lots of us will be on hand to have a look and it's always easier to spot the finer detail of setup with it in front of you... Good choice btw, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Wingers

You don't need a control tyre for Saturday practice, this is only required for the winter series the club holds at the old venue.
