Default new club - can we host an oople round?

Brookthrope Model Car Club being a recently fully refurbished off road club is fairly new to the 1/10th scene. We are now completely astro turf after six long months of hard work. Although we are both an 1/8th club and an 1/10th club we have features and jumps that have been designed to cater for both scales and we can create cut throughs to shorten or lengthen the lap length. We have a huge rostrum, loads of parking, and run LiveRC timing with RC4 loop.

We are wondering what it takes to run an oople round of the championship to try and get more 1/10th users interested and to come to our track? who do we contact?

I can do nothing regarding your question about hosting an Oooooos, but track sounds great - you've put a lot of work into it so hope it is a success

Hi, is it possible for you to send a video of a tenth buggy going round a typical track so we can gauge the size?
Thanks

It is a big track to look at but we are hoping to create a few options for cut throughs to shorten the lap length of the track too better suit tenth BRCA rules.

The track for tenth at present which is used for wednesday practice is 33 seconds long but we are keen to accommodate both scales within the same track, a sort of smaller track within a big track if you will.

All obstacles and features have been fully tested (built and driven) so that they work with both scales.

I will see if i can get a tenth specific video on wednesday

Hi, to be honest 33 seconds is too long, it needs to be circa 25 seconds for an effective 1/10th track.

up the hill anti clockwise, tenth at the moment turns off left at the end of the straight just after the tyres but before the two step ups to the high level area.

This is a vid of a nitro using the whole track

8th tracks aren't really suited to 10th cars, and it looks like there is some work for the club to do to get it to the required level. The oople team will want to see a regular meeting on the track first, i'd have thought, before committing.

Also, the linked FB video doesn't work.

Hi Mark, we will and are taking it seriously however let me explain our current circumstances.

We have just completed our 5 round summer oople series literally yesterday. We have the biggest 1/10th RC event in the UK in less than two weeks time, the Invernational 17 at RHR Astro which is our next point of concentration to get it right for the 192 drivers racing there.

We have then got the oOple winter Series to organise at Chadderton which will see some interesting changes in what we have done before.

And then the team will be looking at venues for the 2018 Summer Series.

We really appreciate you contacting us to offer your venue, 1/8th track size aside it looks interesting.

Your track along with quite a few others that have thrown their hat into the ring will be voted on by the team. Any information, video etc is very helpful for us to assess your track and oOple is all about helping newer tracks flourish.

Please PM me your email address and I will send you the oOple Series Info pack which fully expains what we expect from a club to hold an oOple meeting, at least then you know what you are letting yourselves in for!
Damo.

Thank you for your responses

Like I said before its an 1/8th and 1/10th friendly track, and we are keen to make any changes you suggest to make a 1/10th track suitable for an oople event.

We have a very strong team of track builders and all that you see appeared within 8 months, before that it was one small container and a muddy field essentially.

Not sure why the link does not work I will try another possibly my error with not knowing forums better.

I will try and PM you

We have just hosted a Nirto X round which is a two day 1/8th meeting of national standard I would say - most people said this was the best meeting of the year for Nitro X.

Hopefully this link works better. This is 1/8th electric but 1/10th CAN use all features just the same. We are keen to adapt things to suit tenth better if required. i.e lap length, grid start, narrow sections, etc.

Usually for 1/10th we turn left before the step up section (at the tire) to make the lap length 33 seconds.

if not look for 'Brookthorpe Model Car Club' on facebook and join to see videos - there is loads on there

Hi Mark, is there any way of making the lap length shorter than 33 seconds? At Bury this weekend we were doing 25 second laps and drivers were just about getting 12 laps in. At 33 seconds it will be 9 laps and it's just too long.

You need to aim for 23 to 24 second laps in the dry an extra 2 seconds for wet conditions.

Let us know.

Damo.
