Default Oswestry Track Readiness Days

To all members and friends of Oswestry Radio Car Club

We are working on the track Sunday 5th March and also Saturday and Sunday 19th/20th March.

5th March is to clear around the track area. Removing leaves, rubbish, old pipe.. a general clean up.

19th/20th March we will cut back all of the trees, repair the Astroturf and fix the roof of race control. This will involves removing the existing metal sheeting and felting the aluminium roof. If you have special trade skills please let me know.

Please let me know if you can help on some or all of the days

Starting at 10am on the Sundays, 9am on Saturday the 19th.

Previous track days have had a poor turn out. We must get the track ready early this year due to our regional commitments - please come and help.

Neil

We made some good progress today, the rostrum and wire fence area is far more tidy. We have a large pile of rubbish on the straight which will go into a skip we will hire for the 19th.

I will send out another note closer to that weekend but I ask that if you are a member of Oswestry RCC or you sometime race please think hard about how the club can hope exist if people don't volunteer to spend a few hours working on the track and infrastructure. We will needs lots of people down on the 19th and 20th. Put it in your diary, commit to going, let me know and turn up!

Cheers

The official time is 10am but you can get there as early as you want. I will try to be there for 9am... that is if my flight is not cancelled, I am in Gothenburg at the moment!

I think Jeff has secured some green paint for the rostrum and felt for the roof. Bring gardening and DIY tools. If anyone has a back hoe loader, scissor lift, 40' crane, concrete mixer, cable laying machine etc then they would also be useful...

See you Saturday.

We made good progress today, the race control roof is now sealed, the trees have been cut back, the leaves all removed from the back of the track, the plaster board removed, much of the old pipe cut up, the advertising signs on the building removed, the race control sign removed, the speaker/lighting pole removed and all of the wood has been cleared from under race control. The mesh has also been removed from the windows ready for glass to be measured up.

There is still lots to do tomorrow. - See you there.

Thanks to Ash, Dave, Mat and Phil who helped today.

Today we made fantastic progrees once again! the rostrom has started to be painted but more work is required. The large pile of rubbish has been removed and the porta cabin roof is almost finished! But still lots more work to be done!

Thanks to Jeff, Guy, George, Dave, Ash, Bryce, Morgan and James for their hard work today. The track infrastructure is really improved ahead of our 2011 season but as Ash says, we still have more work to do.
