Default Akula Racing AKX2 'Thresher' conversion kit

Akula Racing are pleased to officially announce the AKX2 Thresher chassis conversion kit. This is designed for the Ansmann X2C and Teacm C TC02C kits.

The kit replaced the three-piece moulded plastic chassis with a 3mm thick 6082 aluminium chassis. This is fitted with carbon fibre side plates to control the flex, this gives the option to tune the chassis flex by changing the height of these from the chassis – the higher they are the stiffer the chassis becomes.
The main benefit from a one piece aluminium chassis over the moulded plastic on the X2C/TC02C is that it has much more consistent and controllable flex. The standard chassis not only has a lot of flex overall, but also has additional weak points where the front and rear T-pieces attach. These are extra points of uncontrolled flex, where the material does not influence the flex but the inherent weakness in a junction. Using a single continuous chassis gives much more precise control, giving a better response during cornering and also over bumps. It allows the chassis to be made stiffer for better response and consistency yet still retain the same bump compliance.
The main characteristics of the conversion are a better steering response (despite being longer than the standard car), more overall grip, greater consistency and even better rear traction than the standard car. This makes the car easier to drive meaning it can be pushed harder without loss of control.
The chassis has been designed to accept both saddle and stubby lipos, and if using a slimline servo it is just possible to run a 2 cell stick pack down the length of the chassis. Saddle lipos offer the greatest flexibility, as the chassis has been designed to accept them in three different configurations that allow the tuning of the weight distribution to move more weight over the front for more steering in high grip conditions. The three main configurations are shown in the photos.
The kit comes complete with all fixings and washers required to complete it, there are no additional parts required. It is also supplied with a cab-forward clear lexan body shell and under tray, both with overspray film.
RRP: £145.83 (£175.00 inc 20% VAT)
The kit includes;
